Yes its me again…and you will see more of me….got another building done. I have 22 buildings done now, and 22 buildings to go. That sounds a lot, but these buildings will go faster. And eventually all the accessories will be done, then I will post the whole city. Then begin painting the minis for the game. link Tom |

Tom……Please keep posting these as I find them very inspirational as to what you can accomplish with a basic model that is not much to begin with. A lot of the Plasticville kits are still in production but I do not think this house is, which is unfortunate as it has the best lines of the few houses they did make. The split level is dated to 1950s 1960s period. The plain ranch house is just that – plain. I take it you have bought your "town" off Ebay. I bought some Plasticville there but ran into a problem with one or more walls being warped on kits from different sources. My guess is from being stored in attics or garages with big time summer heat buildup. The plastic was very brittle which I think was from the same circumstances. Some had been glued with what looked like Elmer's Wood Glue because it was yellow. What it was was very difficult to scrape off. Turned me off on Plasticville other than new production. I should have bought them when the prices were low. Some kits have doubled in a couple of years. That, and Built-Ups whose prices are ridiculous for such a plain and dated model. So looking forward to your whole "town" as well as seeing it in action. |

Thanks! Yea almost all of them came with a back warped wall. I just put some hardboard in the center and brought the warp out, and them glued it to abase and held it in place before I let go of it. That made the roofs fit right. I did buy all of them off of ebay. Mostly in one large very nasty dirty lot, with all the yellowed glue on them. I just primed them black first and then resprayed them with the base color. At first it was overwhelming, but i just did one at a time, like I am doing. Those ranch houses are good, but I have some variety. The ones I am working on now are different ones, but very common on ebay for like $10 USD each if you lucky. I only have 7 houses, based off a small table I will use. But I am making a epic sized table for the grand fanale, but not investing into many more houses. I focused more on towns instead, more fun. Subdivison gaming would be a little boring. But I have variety, a mobile home park, etc, to give the feel of a small town feel. I would put interior detail in the houses but I do not want to spend any money on furniture, too expensive, and not worth it. But you are correct, some of the prices are ridiculous on ebay. Cheers!! That's a good house, who makes it? I love your stuff. You are getting all the same buildings I use in my zombie games, but yours look a lot better. |

Thanks! They are all for the most part the old Plasticville O scale buildings. Pretty cheap on ebay if you look hard. Some of them have been bought by Bachmann and have been reissued. Most of the ones I bought were old and dirty and needed to be fixed. I usually look for lots. Its worth it, if you have the time to do it. These were white with yellow window trim before I sprayed it dark grey and it was unassembled. Tom |
