Ral Partha's sci-fi amphibian Kickstarter – the 35mm+ Phroggs – link – has reached & passed its goal of £1,500.00 GBP and backers can look forward to add-ons of command figures, plus and a stretch goal, to be unveiled soon, I'm told.

Besides pulp sci-fi and 40K-style shenanigans, I reckon they's work well in VSF as Venusian swamp warriors…

Great stuff, and plenty of time for new backers to jump onboard and partake of the majestic amphibian madness…

Somehow I imagine phroggs would enjoy at least one kind of tripping.

This is wishful thinking at its wishful-thinkiest, but I would love a seated pilot/driver and a standing gunner. My Phroggs are going to have a couple of open-topped hover-barges (possibly "Martian" ones from Parroom Station, Recreational Conflict, Tin Man or Black Hat's Martian Empires if they're not too small) to reinforce that sense of a decadent, esoteric civilisation that still possesses "vestigial" advanced tech.

Failing that, I might just put a few of them in some sort of flying saucers that hide their legs.

Somehow I imagine phroggs would enjoy at least one kind of tripping.

Ha! So I wasn't the only one thinking they look "trippy" in a fun sense.

As for the loincloths, I think they're just right for the figures. Completely in spirit with the style being aimed for.

By the way, if the Phroggs turn out to be a success and there's no difficulties in production, I wonder if RPE might consider some space orangutans next evil grin

Well, those are … interesting.

Unfortunately they are not the right size for my 15mm VSF gaming.

Yes they are! Why, have you not read Edgar Rice Burroughs' "The frankly quite excessively oversized frogmen of Venus"?

Seriously though, I wouldn't mind seeing these in 15mm/18mm as well. They would be excellent for both my Martian Empires and Ion Age projects.

Definitely. They have the right vibe and giant races look really good on the table.

Here's a work-in-progress shot of the command & support add-ons – psychic mage, sergeant, comms trooper, Leader and medic.:

The sergeant will also be available as a freebie to backers at Bullfrog level & up from £2,200.00 GBP

All in all, a great characterful set of figures and complement to the Phrogg forces. I will definitely be adding all these to my pledge!

There's a psyker! Excellent…

It's inside my head! I'm thinking Phrogg thoughts! Ribbit!

TwinMirror16 Mar 2015 6:23 a.m. PST

The psyker is also my favourite of the new bunch.

…And now the news – the Phroggs have passed the 2K mark, so Paul from Ral Partha has announced that the sergeant figure is now unlocked and free to all pledgers at Bullfrog level & above.

Next up is an anti-grav weapons platform!
