I am looking for suggestions for what people believe are the best sculpts. I am just getting into this period and, so I am not familiar with alot of the ideal places to start looking for the miniatures….Thanks in advance

I like the TAG Range:

Nice Aussies as well.

Lots of choices. Keep in mind that today's squad will soon grow to a platoon with a company not far behind.

With that in mind, I would suggest you select a range that you like and grow from there.

My own collection has the following:

Baker Company – The ARVN figures are a little poor.

West Wind – I know they are not beloved, however, they do fill the ranks.

London War Room – now called Jungle Rot – mainly SKS armed troops – they are smaller than BC/WW

TAG – M-16, VC/NVA other type rifles, RPG – I find the support weapons and AK-47 to large. They added ANZAC. Also if you deal with them directly, you can get custom packs at no extra charge. I did this with the ANZAC's and was able to get all SRL and none of the support weapons

FOA – I have their ANZAC's and they match TAG is size and shape very well. I need to shorten their L1A1 barrels and add back packs to match TAG.

Battle Honors – I have some and find them too small to match.

Eureka – I've seen their ANZAC and NVA/VC in the flesh they are also too small to match.

Chiltern – Way to big – They don't match up with anyone.

Bottom line:

28mm – Baker Company, West Wind, TAG, FOA
25mm – Jungle Rot, Battle Honors, Eureka

Thanks VCarter, very helpful. I have been going through the various sites to look at the mini's…..It looks like Force of Arms closed….or their website is down, does anybody else know where you can order their mini's from?

The only plus about Chiltern (Despite their being large and stylized) is that they go well with 1/48 scale models, especially the riverine boats.

I believe Force of Arms is back in some form. They took a year off for personal reasons and I not sure if the
website came back.

Along these lines, I have a short question about TAGs miniatures. I like the look of their Vietnam line quite a bit, but I noticed some the barrels on the M16s look cut off or too short. Are these just mis-casts or is it the style they are going for? I am assuming it is mis-casts, just because of the fact that some look right on too.

I have been on the edge of a Vietnam project for a while, and will definitely go with TAG though.

Some of the TAG M-16 barrels appear a little short. Get a good look at the pictures.

Also, I have done custom orders from TAG. I really hate kneeling/prone figures. I worked with Pete (from TAG) and did some swaps within packs. I copied the website pictures of a pack and numbered the figure from left to right (1 thru 4). I then ask (as an example) for two of figure number 1 and none of figure 2 and one each of figure 3 and 4. You may want to run this past Pete first and see if he will still do custom packs.

Once again, The TAG AK's, RPD, M-60s do not match up with the likes of Baker Company, West Wind, and FOA.

Pete said it would take a little longer, but I really didn't notice.

Baker Company as sold by blister as well as platoon packs. West Wind are mainly platoon packs.

Early Baker Co and FOA stuff are my favorite. TAG stuff is ok, but not much as much character. (All my subjective opinion of course.)
