Hi all,

I have just completed the fourth battalion in General Portago's 3rd Division at Talavera.

The Antequeran Light Infantry had been in two defeats at Valls in February 1809 and Medellin in the following March so had certainly been tested by the time of Talavera. They were obviously a resilient unit and were still in the Spanish order of battle in 1814 at the end of the war.

Saw these on your blog earlier Jonathan. Lovely as usual.

What did you use to make the skirmishers?

Have you used any of the Warmodelling Spanish yet? I always fancied getting some of their Militia and peasant infantry.

Cheers guys, thanks for your comment

Colin, the skirmishers are using the tarleton helmeted Spanish Light Infabntry skirmish figure that AB have with an added shako head. The jackets are dollman's, but at this scale I can live with that.

I am very keen to get hold of the Warmodelling Spanish irregular infantry, but their supply dried up in the UK with all the issues before and after Xmas, so I am eagerly awaiting them to come back on stream now that Mike Oliver at Captain Games is gearing up to produce the range in the UK.

I will be doing the next two Spanish militia battalions, one in AB and the other in Warmodelling, so I can compare and contrast. It's great to be an 18mm collector with such nice ranges of figures to play with.

Thanks
JJ

Jonathan,

I know Mike is in the process of recasting the Warmodelling range, but as he's got all the French to do first I had to look elsewhere to finish off my early French Heavy Cavalry, for which I had been using Warmodelling Spanish cavalry.

I got mine from Dermot Quigly at Campaign Games Miniatures and his delivery was as fast as from the UK. Their site shows the Spanish in stock…

It may also be worthwhile contacting Stonewall Figures in Cornwall as they have Warmodelling listed on their site as well…
