Launched at 11am this morning, fully funded sometime in the first hour. It was 20% funded by the time I got my phone to log into kickstarter.
Come and enjoy the ride, it will be a fun one. link

11AM this morning? And it's nearly half a mil? I'd like to stick my toe in the water with a cottage, but the lower tiers aren't a particularity good value. Free $15 USD ground shipping inside the US? It wouldn't cost that if it were made of lead. |

It is 25mm. Not Reaper or GW size, but old Ral Parth, RAFM and old Heritage size. Less animated figures work best. It matches the Dwarven Forge Dungeon size. |
James Wright | 08 Mar 2015 3:48 p.m. PST |
Being DF, it can be assumed to be typical 28mm Zephyr, for fantasy RPGs is mostly their target demo. |

I backed the other two in significant amounts both times. Not so sure about this one though. Something just doesn't look right or add up. Will have to sleep on it. |
Xintao | 08 Mar 2015 7:39 p.m. PST |
Doctor X, I backed both 1 and 2 as well. They really need to show a video or better pictures showing how the pieces come together and how many building you can get at each level. Xin |
53Punisher | 08 Mar 2015 8:19 p.m. PST |
I also backed 1 & 2, but this one really isn't peaking my interest. I think I'll pass on this one. |
AzSteven | 08 Mar 2015 8:52 p.m. PST |
Way too pricey for what you get – this one I am sadly passing on (unlike the $1,000 USD+ spent on KS1 and KS2 from them) |
Sgt Slag | 08 Mar 2015 10:31 p.m. PST |
The models are fantastic, especially the fact that he put in the stepping stones at street crossings, which kept feet out of the open sewers… Nice detail. As models, they are impressive. Unfortunately, I have no desire to model a city as he shows them, as I would find it too impractical to play on. That's me, though. Obviously there are many folks who want these products. I wish him well. Cheers! |

I guess I feel the same way as most of you I spent $2,000 USD on the last two, and jumped right in this one just does not seem to be a big bang for you buck. So I am holding off for now. |
Goose666 | 09 Mar 2015 3:32 a.m. PST |
Well its made $707,436 USD around 24hrs. That's a pretty well backed KS by any standard. I think they have probably been caught off guard by the shear support level of it. They have comparison photos apparently for the KS stuff and the older sets on the way, which I am keen to see. But this just does scream Mordheim if they do some ruin/damaged walls and roofs etc. |
RobH | 09 Mar 2015 3:48 a.m. PST |
I think the level of backing for this is generated as much by a "…wow, it's DF must back it.." as any real need. I really cannot see anyone thinking this is the best way of building a fantasy/medieval city terrain. |
Xintao | 09 Mar 2015 5:19 a.m. PST |
It will be interesting to watch how it plays out. I backed at Capitol level and will leave it there for now. It's important to get those stretch goals and add on packs. That will really change the nature of the KS campaign. They need to add the sewers as an addon pack soon. If you watch the comments as they scroll by, people want sewers. Xin |
Guthroth | 09 Mar 2015 5:40 a.m. PST |
Very nice, and although pricey, it's worth the asking figure. But no EU shipping means I will never be interested. |
PatrickWR | 09 Mar 2015 6:44 a.m. PST |
I got a healthy amount of stuff from the previous two DF kickstarters, but this one doesn't really interest me either. For the money I could get a table full of Miniature Building Authority stuff, which I know to be excellent and quite playable right out of the box. |
BigNickR | 09 Mar 2015 7:59 a.m. PST |
I'm waiting for him to do the sci-fi stuff, that's the one I'm waiting for… sci-fi corridors! |
dsfrank | 09 Mar 2015 9:55 a.m. PST |
I didn't back the other DF kickstarters but was really interested in this one – but too pricey IMHO for what you get – I was confused about how many buildings came in each pledge level as well until I counted the roof pieces you get – not enough for the money for me |
LostPict | 09 Mar 2015 7:05 p.m. PST |
Ptetty sweet but way expensive at present. It is currently at ~$100 per building with enough walls, a roof. Single door, and floors for ~3 floors per building. The stone roads pack will provide a 4" perimeter around each at $60 USD a pop. So a rough estimate is that without the inevitable pile of free stretch goals a 16 building city like the one on the video is currently around ~$2050 and will cover a 4x4 board. Of course more walls with doors and more roofs would (or ignoring roofs and building lower buildings with a single door) will change thise ratios and square footage covered. Definite will keep my KS recce focused on it. |

LostPict stole my thunder with his review, haha. I decided to take a fresh look it this morning and to me, it looks like they will be relying on hitting stretch goals to allow each set to "grow" into more buildings. If you want to know how many buildings each set will make just total the number of roof pieces. So at the Empire level you spent $920 USD to get 10 roofs which will make that many 4x4 multi level buildings. That's a lot more than MBA or others charge for the same or more. Also agree on the $60 USD per building for sidewalks surrounding it. So that makes it over $150 USD per 4x4" painted building. My suggestion for anyone looking this might be to hang back and see what else gets unlocked before backing. From the city pictures I see a lot of different roofs, windows, balconies, bay windows, etc. So there are other pieces out there. Just need to see what comes in the next few weeks. Does it say anywhere how tall the walls are? |
LostPict | 10 Mar 2015 6:31 a.m. PST |
Ditto on the Sci-Fi stuff. I have a pile of the old resin mazes, caverns, and sci-fi. His KS so far have scratched the medieval / fantasy itch, but the lack of the Sci-Fi Alpha, Gamma, Beta expansions pretty much hampers building out my Deathstar. Hopefully this will be in the works if the current KS is successful. OBTW, looking at the last stretch details, adding a Terra Cotta Roof and a Slate Roof pack to the Empire set for $90 USD lets you build the 4x4 set with 16 buildings and stone roads(assume 7 more door modules are on the way) for $2,030 USD at present – hopefully lots more free stretch goals will drive this down. (Similar approach with the Capital set gets you 3x4 layout with 12 buildings for $1,300 USD however the buildings will average 1.25 stories instead of 1.75 stories for Empire approach). Ain't spreadsheets great? |

Pm me if you guys are interested in some DF sci-if stuff. I have two sets that I need to get rid of. |
Xintao | 10 Mar 2015 9:56 a.m. PST |
Doctor X, I agree the deal will get better as more stretch goals are unlocked, but don't agree about hanging back. The more people that jump in, the more stuff is unlocked. And if you were really on the fence you could pull out later on if you don't like what you see. I really think once they unlock the sewers is where this KS will hit it's stride. Xin |
LostPict | 10 Mar 2015 12:37 p.m. PST |
I am in for an Empire, 3 roof packs, and encouraging them to come out with just curbs in addition to roads. That is enough stuff to make a very respectable village of ~16 buildings and only need to disinherit one, but not both children. |
Chris Palmer | 10 Mar 2015 1:22 p.m. PST |
I went if for the Hamlet level and a pair of roof packs. Which will give me a nice little 6 building crossroads village. I know it's pricey, but something about the building block nature of it appeals to the inner-kid in me. :) |
snurl1 | 11 Mar 2015 3:53 a.m. PST |
I haven't made up my mind yet. Backed the last two, wonderful stuff. This one just seems much more expensive for less stuff. Time will tell. |
Chris Palmer | 11 Mar 2015 4:05 a.m. PST |
I think part of the perception problem may be the other KSs were mainly 2x2 tiles, and most of this stuff is 4x4 or 4x2. So while it seems one is getting fewer parts, each 4x4 actually equals four 2x2s. |
LostPict | 11 Mar 2015 5:23 a.m. PST |
I really like the 4x4 stuff. I bought the resin caverns and it made it easy to put down a big lay-out much quicker. Also not as many issues with tile alignment. But as you point out you get a lot fewer pieces. I did not pay much attention to their caverns KS, but in the first one the stretch goals basically added 50% more pieces over the course of the KS. In my case, my 5x sets morphed into about 8X sets. If this one follows a similar track it will really drive down the costs. Curiously waiting to see the if the next set of Stretch Goals reveals a similar direction. |

The Kickstarter just busted thru the Million dollar mark. In large part to the awesome new Add-on pack, Sewers. Very cool stuff, now I'm torn, less city and sewers or sell a kidney and get the sewers as well.
link The add-on pack is a good deal, 107 pcs for $125. USD Of course I think you have to pledge at the cottage or hamlet level to open the add-ons Decisions, decisions… Xin |
snurl1 | 19 Mar 2015 3:35 a.m. PST |
Battlements cleared this morning, waiting to see how much they cost. With the last two campaigns, the amount of build-able pieces practically doubled with the stretch goals, adding a lot of value and incentive to buy during the KS. I just don't see it happening with this campaign so far. The free stuff they have thrown in is nice, but an extra roof and some walls would have made this a no-brainer. |

link 28 hours or so go to! Made $1.7 USDmillion.. that's not bad! |
