Some illustrations of 14th century German soldiers: Große Heidelberger Liederhandschrift or Codex Manesse, early 14th century The Manesse Codex is a book copied and illustrated between 1305 and 1340 in Zürich. It contains love songs in Middle High German by important poets, several of whom were famous rulers. The compilation of the codex was patronized by the Manesse family of Zürich, presumably by Rüdiger II Manesse. The fish and feather helm is very cool:) Wonder if we had to decorate our modern combat helmets what we wed use to day? I'd glue my Black Berry on mine, I use the damn thing so much that the enemy would know me straight away :) Cheers thanks very colourful a reminder to try not use so many drab colours when painting this period |
