After surfing the Frothers site, when it was brought to my attention, that I among others here were the topics of mockery, etc. … By some former members here and others who from what I could tell never served in any military. And the closest they go to real soldiering was playing with toy soldiers. But before I go there. I think that purile homo-erotic obsessions while making fun of members here is really troubling. It shows, IMO some underliing problems. Not only immaturity, which is the top of the list. But really, making fun by saying someone is a homosexual is just toilet humor. And posting pics of phallic items is really just childish. And really, I know I'm straight, and many of the members here are. But acting like juveniles in a locker room just shows where your real mindsets are. And like school yard bullies mocking and picking on people you have no real idea who they are shows your level of intelligence and the fact you must find others like you to group together to make fun and mock people who are not like you. It is clearly a sign of weakness. And from what I can tell. Most of you were never atheletes and are probably weak kneed scrawny little boys who very well have had their lunch money stolen from them on the playground. By real bullies … and a bunch of "wannbe" Tough guys. And my experiences with these type is they are real tough online or on the phone. But like most bullies when confronted in person, they fold. Because they are weak both physically and mentally. I played sports and lifted weights all my life in High School, intramurally at the University and I when I was in the US ARMY '79-'90. I know real tough guys and guys much tougher they I. And I also learned to pick out to punks. And I'm pretty sure most of you mocking us on TMP, fall into the weak punk catagory. If I was face to face with you on the street and confronted you I'm sure you'd not be so mouthy and talk trash about me or the other members here. And even in my old age, I'm pretty sure I could still make you cry like the little boys you are. But you are safe just making childish comments on the net. And if anyone who is an adult really looks at those comments. They see what weak, sorry, insecure individuals that you are. And find strength in numbers even of the net. You are "babies" and you are on a website where you play with toy soldiers … Really ? Do you have the right to judge anyone. Yes, I paint models and used to wargame. I've done that all my life. But I'm not a bully and mock people who you think are less than you in some ways. And again, you never served in any military but yet still think you can judge ? Not well developed adult behavior.

I went to Frothers once just to check it out. All that adolescent angst and drama wasn't worth my time.

Irish Marine07 Mar 2015 9:18 a.m. PST

Why even address it. You will never make a impact nor get the time you spent typing this back.

Phil Hall07 Mar 2015 9:26 a.m. PST

Why should I care what shows up on Frothers? Why should you care?

It is what it is. Better to move on.

@Legion4:

1) Have you ever heard of paragraphs? grin

2) Stop feeding the trolls. You are giving them the attention they want, and they are totally unaffected by your contempt. To them it's a badge of honor.

Every now and then I'll post something and get jumped on because it seems I have a down on Americans. Not true, just a down on the attitudes and beliefs of some Americans and, sometimes, of America itself.

On the other hand, I should point out that I post here and never, ever, visit Frothers, which is a British site. This does not make me anti-British, just points out… if I disagree with something or someone (or some country) I'll say so… and, as I've said, I post here rather than on Frothers.

To borrow a phrase I often see on TMP:

'Just saying'.

Now some of you had questions about my "resume". Thank you for your interest. But it is a bit creepy that one of you even had to hunt my information online. So lets set the record straight. Yes, I have 2 business degrees, an AAB and BA from the YSU School of business, '75-'79. I also was in the ROTC program. I served in the 101 Airborne Assault Div. After graduating from IOBC in the winter of '79. Served as a Rifle Plt leader in B Co./3-187 INF. Yes, the Rakassans. Some of you said that was an elite unit. I guess you read about. No, RANGERs, SF, DELTA and SEALS are what is considered Elite by people like me. The 101, 82d, 10th Mtn, are highly trained and skilled Light Infantry units. But since none of you were there, you wouldn't know that. After I servered for about 18 months and a Rifle PL. I was assigned as the BN S-3 Air. Now if you were soldiers you'd know what that is. While in the 101, I cross-trained with the USMC at Little Creek and USAF AGOS. I was also "fortunate" to be selected for one of the few slots in the Bn for a TS Clearance. Because as a 1LT I was "selected" to be an Atomic Demolitions Missions Officer. While in the 101 we deployed to Panama the CZ on 3 occassions. To the JOTC at Ft. Sherman. Where, and I mentioned this as one of the Frother kids questioned this. On one operation. Which is called a "Demonstration", Speaker were mounted on UH-60 Blackhawks to play "Flight of the Valkyries". For the 2-3 Russion Spy Trawlers that were of the coast. Which we could even see from our barracks at Sherman. Plus there was the threat of Cuban infiltrators. etc…. It was the MI guys idea and we thought it was "cool". Another 101 unit ran demonstration ops on Viaques too. One of you F/kids brought up about some statments I made about other Ops. I/we trained with and knew the some SF troops there. A number of them had been LTs in my Bn previously. I know they and some others who ran ops much further South then the CZ. I made it clear I was not one of them. And if I was in would have been classied, anyway. Again to try to make it clear I was not with them. But some it appears misunderstood what I was trying to say. As some you F/Kids noted, that I'm not Shakespeare when it comes to English like writing and spelling. I'm not writer. Back in '79 … they were not looking for Shakespeares. They we looking for those they could train to be solders for the Cold War. Now one or two of you F/kids. Questioned me about being an officer because of that because you daddy was an officer. I'm sure if you ask him, he'll tell you … many in his command was a Shakesspeare. And one of you who calls himself the name of an "rice burned" motorcycle … well all the bikres I knew road Harley's. Just say'n Tough guy. You also questions my Critical thinking abilities … really ? Why did'nt you served like your daddy ? Maybe he like to see some of the homo-erotic pics you posted and things you said online about us on TMP. And about other veterans like your daddy ? You and another, IIRC of you F/kids who said they had dads in the military, begs the question … why did not you become soldiers. Like I did as my Father was a decorated WWII Vet in the 90th ID, ETO. But you talk tough but you only play with toy soldiers. Not tough enough to join ? I'm guessing you were not and still are not … Well enough about you all … and you know how you are … So anyway after being in the 101, '80-'83 in the Rakassans. I went to IOAC and was promoted to 0-3 CPT. Was then sent to the ROK, with a forward deployed Mech Bn in the Western Corridor, with 1-31 INF. And yes, I was the Bn S4. And yes, I had a Support Plt under my command. Along with Supply Sgts and cooks. That is was the S4 does. And I think an F/kids who goes by Dr something who may be a vet, had a question about that. And yes, when need be, I helped my troops unload stack, inventory, etc. supplies, ammo, etc. … Just like as a PL, a good leader does everything his troops do usually. But you I think you said, you thought I only reach the rank of CPL ? Not I think you mispelled that … it is CPT ? And you was an E-4, 5, 6 ? And I think you said you served in Vietnam. I thank you for your service … Were you a Medic … since you go by Dr ? Or were you an Infantryman, Tanker, FA, CE, ADA ? Just wondering since you questioned my rank ? I'm questioning you about your resume' ? Huh … tough guy ?

Thanks for the comments boys … But I'm not done. I served my courty proudly for over a decade. As did my Father in WWII. I don't suffer childish immature purile bullies gladly. Who think they can get away with calling me a lair or the term they use a "Walt" … Which I sure that Frothers is full of Walts.

1) Have you ever heard of paragraphs?

2) Stop feeding the trolls. You are giving them the attention they want, and they are totally unaffected by your contempt. To them it's a badge of honor.

Sorry as I said, I'm not real good with English and even less with computer stuff. wink

You miss the point … I don't care were theses little boys are from. Many are from the US as well. They could be Martians. When you call me a liar, mock me and others he but in my world … I say that is enough is enough … just say'n … but thank you for your comments.

Were was I ? After 22 Months in the ROK with 2 tours on the DMZ as the Bn S4. I was sent to CAS3. Again, some of the F/Kid "Walts" may not know what that … but Bleeped text 'm ! OK, was then sent to a a Separate Mech Bde, the 197th, which was part of the 18th ABN Corps. Was a Bn BMO for 1-58 Mech. Then the Bde Cdr pulled me up to be the Bde MO in the CBT SPT Bn for about 15 months. The "High Light" there was being a Bde MO at NTC … if you been there … you know what I'm talking about ! *evil grin. After that I commanded an M113 Mech Co. in 1-58. Went to the NTC as a Co Cdr and REFORGER in [West] Germany. Then the new Bde Cdr ws Bn Cdr from the ROK. So then I was kicked to Bde S4 to be the Asst S4. Until I was not promoted and RIF'd like hundreds of us after 10 & 1/2 years on active duty. I understood the US ARMY was downsizing and I ws just another ROTC INF Officer with a good record but noy Great to be promoted. Then was in the IRR waiting on stand by to be a repelacement in Desert Storm. But thankfully the war was over and I was not needed. Then was a Bn 2 in a Reserve QM Unit. Again with the downsizing, etc. I was no longer needed. and became a civilian again after about 18 months … While on active duty I was awarded 1 MSM, 1 ARCOM 2 AAMs, ABN and Air Assault wings, and an EIB … I am not a Liar and I hate bullies …

Personal logo Legion 4 Supporting Member of TMP07 Mar 2015 10:30 a.m. PST

I'm sorry if some of you think this was not proper or needed. But I may not have been the best INF Officer, but I did serve my country honorably. And I was very well trained. Deleted by Moderator

And not to forget one of the F/kids looked me up on Linked In and found something to berate me. Well let me clear something up there too. I managed a very successfully large fitness facility for the 16 years after I left the ARMY. I not only got paid but could work out. And stay in pretty good condition. I'm sure in much better condition then some you who like to berate and mock. And yes, at times I did mop floors, etc. … just like the people who worked for me. Like I learn in the ARMY … a good leader does everything his troops do. I didn't mind. I'm not too proud to get my hands dirty. Then I was asked by a local Agency to work as a PI. And did that for about 7 years. And I still do it now and then. They pay me $15 USD and hour to just do paperwork. But you said something about me not making a lot of money … Well that is were the Business degrees come in … I started putting $$$ away in Mutuals Funds as soon as I was promoted to 1LT and continued that for my 10 + years on active duty. Then with my Severance Pay for the ARMY I opened up another mutual fund … I don't have to work … I just call my broker a couple of time a month and they send a check to my bank … But thanks for being concerned sonny boy … How's about you ?

Secondly---Thank you for your service and dedication to be ready to put boots to sand.

Please take the time to get more savy on internet security. If some random kid was able to take informaiton you gave out and then trace that back to your Linked Introll

I am on your side in this---you should not have to put up with any words that berate you---but it is sad to say that these days any internet usage opens you up to the harshest of backlash from anyone with the ability to type.

Legion…

From one ex-military to the other….

If you were an officer, I would say that one the very first things your CO, or higher up said was "Yeah you're a brand new LT. Now take this as gospel…Listen to your PLT Sgt. and senior NCO's….they know what they are doing, and if they tell you that "something isn't a good idea", then take their advice."

While I know of mucho which you speak, I would say as a Former NCO to a Former Officer type…"Sir…I dont' think that you putting this out here is a good idea."

Let it go….

"the 16 years after I left the ARMY."

So, I'm not a clinical psychologist; I was only ever an academic. But were I clinical I might offer a tentative diagnosis of something along the lines of narcissistic compensatory obsessive behaviour. It's not a serious problem unless it's left untreated for extensive periods of time. And you're starting to look like you're getting towards that point -- anger issues are one of the potential outcomes.

I'd really recommend getting some help so that you can firstly get a diagnosis from someone clinical and then get on the right treatment to start to live in the moment and not remain stuck endlessly storying your past.

Andy ONeill07 Mar 2015 12:56 p.m. PST

Who cares about Frothers? Forget 'em! If you don't go there and don't' look at their posts then it doesn't matter what nonsense they spout.

napthyme07 Mar 2015 1:21 p.m. PST

Legion I found in this world if you want to be respected there is three things you should never brag about.

1: Your military service records.
2: your college degrees
3: The size of your pay checks

Why??? none are worth the paper they are written on for judging the value of who you are and what good you have done in this world.

Best to just leave this as it is and try to understand that respect is only good if you can respect the person it comes from.

Personal logo Editor in Chief Bill The Editor of TMP Fezian07 Mar 2015 1:21 p.m. PST

KatieL, you are part of the problem.

First, that message should have been sent privately. Otherwise, you look like you are trying to embarass him publicly.

Second, you're part of Frothers, you hang with the mockers – when are you going to speak up against the bullying?

I'm not a clinical psychologist, but considering your background, is it possible you are lonely and Frothers makes you feel like you belong?

Addressing Bill's latest message:

KatieL, you are part of the problem.

Is she? I haven't seen anything destructive here on TMP by her…

First, that message should have been sent privately. Otherwise, you look like you are trying to embarrass him publicly.

I disagree. I figure if he is man enough to post this on TMP for all to see then he should be man enough to take whatever responses he is going to get. The world is too damn full of people with uber thin skin, since "being a victim" is now "socially acceptable," and gets you hugs, free cookies, and attention and sympathy that so many people seem to crave.
I don't see anything she said here to be offensive or embarrassing, and to be honest, the majority of us have said stupid, offensive or embarrassing things here on TMP…

Second, you're part of Frothers, you hang with the mockers – when are you going to speak up against the bullying?

And Bill..what good would it do?…Honestly?…The more she asks them to stop, the more some of them will get their rocks off on it.

I'm not a clinical psychologist, but considering your background, is it possible you are lonely and Frothers makes you feel like you belong?

Dude..I'm glad you aren't a clinical psychologist because right now your initial prognosis based on lack of therapeutic evidence and diagnostic evidence to support your prognosis would show that you didn't know your clinical psychologist rectal orifice from a hole in the ground, (either natural or man-made).

One of the strongpoints and attractive options for groups/clubs/hobbies and yes, even website forums, is that we find something that makes us feel comfortable and makes us feel like we belong
I believe in gun ownership, that is why I DON'T belong to "Moms Demand Action". I don't care for street racing or customized cars (it's just not "my thing"), so I don't belong to the NHRA….I don't care for basketball so NBA fan groups do nothing for me, and I am bored silly by "March Madness". I DO however, have an interest in miniature wargaming….and I like to share my interest with like minded people, who make me feel comfortable and like "I belong"…hence why I am a member of TMP, and LAF…

Bill, do me a favor, and work on TMP 4.0,and keeping this site going until then, and leave the professional clinical analysis of self identification and group belonging to the experts?…

Thanks….

"KatieL, you are part of the problem.

First, that message should have been sent privately. Otherwise, you look like you are trying to embarass him publicly."

Feel free to send it to him as a PM and delete my posting. I can't send PMs to people.

"Second, you're part of Frothers, you hang with the mockers – when are you going to speak up against the bullying?"

Hey, I'm not fighting your weird battles for you. Especially since it started spilling over into the real world.

"I'm not a clinical psychologist, but considering your background, is it possible you are lonely and Frothers makes you feel like you belong?"

I'm not sure I'd count myself as "belonging" at Frothers any more than I would say that I "belong" at TMP. There ARE electronic communities where I do feel I belong, but those are around people I know in real life as well as online.

Nor would I say that I was lonely; I'm solitary, but that's fairly normal for an introverted personality type who has to deal with extroverts a lot of the time.

napthyme07 Mar 2015 2:24 p.m. PST

For Bleeped texts sake Bill back off KatieL.

She has no more obligation to defend you, the editors or anyone else then any one of us do.

The more you comment on things here the more you prove the points the froths keep making about you. There is a time to know when to hold your tongue.

"it is better to be seen but not heard!"

Personal logo Editor in Chief Bill The Editor of TMP Fezian07 Mar 2015 2:42 p.m. PST

She has no more obligation to defend you, the editors or anyone else then any one of us do.

I strongly disagree. There are situations in life when people need to speak up, and not enable the bullies.

Where was KatieL when the editors were being attacked? She was participating in the topic, she read what was said, she had a keyboard. She could and should have done the right thing.

napthyme07 Mar 2015 2:45 p.m. PST

The best way to deal with bullies is to send them to Coventry, not fight with them and keep the topic going.

David Manley07 Mar 2015 3:09 p.m. PST

Its also getting ridiculous when you ask "TMP Champion" not to stoke the fires by posting on Frothers – and then you do exactly that yourself. Just leave it Bill.

Winston Smith07 Mar 2015 3:27 p.m. PST

As a civilian who was never on the military bit has watched the shenanigans on Frothets…..

Legion. Just what do you hope to accomplish here? Do you expect the Lads at Frothers to suddenly respect you because you have pointed out the true facts? In what world are you living? Facts do not sway the opinions of people like that.
Do you honestly expect people you have never bothered to notice before suddenly stop saying bad things about you? Why?

They hate you because you express opinions at variance with theirs on TMP. That's all. They despise your politics. So, what? Why does it bother you that people you do not know and will never meet dislike you?

With a few exceptions, they dislike me and the OFM. I go there often out of a morbid curiosity to see what they say about me. Does it bother me? I would be less than honest if I said it didn't. But not to the extent that it puts me off my feed. It amuses me though. Bleeped text 'em.

Stop thinking you have to refute false things that morons say about you. Especially if you never heard of them before and don't respect them.

AND, if you are making it all up, again so what? I don't particularly care if resumes are embellished.
I'm just surprised I haven't been attacked for selling cable tv. grin
Tell them you are a bouncer at a gay strip club. That's more respectable.

Winston Smith07 Mar 2015 3:33 p.m. PST

Hell, Bill you used to "hang with the Frothers" too. grin
That's nothing to hang on Katie. More often than not she gives good advice in her field of expertise both here and on Frothers.

She is NOT part of the problem, whatever that problem may be.

Of all the advice given in this thread Murphy's is the soundest. This thread should never have been started.

This is NOT the same situation as Curt Schilling. The differences should be obvious.

Winston Smith07 Mar 2015 3:40 p.m. PST

And ANOTHER THING, he said while standing in the doorway on his way out….

"That thread" on Frothers was dying of terminal self inflicted boredom and ennui. It was tedious reading, and they were admitting it. Heck, even our old buddy Connard Kawasaki Sage was muttering about sowing and reaping.
And then the last two days Bill and Legion both gave them all the ammo they need to pump up the self justification and obnoxiousness one could ask for.

Way to go guys.
Now to get something to eat and find an AWI game at Cold Wars to play in tonight.
Why waste time giving self evident advice to people not inclined to follow it anyway? grin

Let it go….

Thank you for your advice. I thought about it … as I said, I don't like being called a lair and I don't like bullies … So I decided to make my thoughts known. May have been a good idea … maybe not … But thanks you again one vet to another.
