"Here are some images of MPC/AMT Star Destroyer from Star Wars.I have to say that this kit in its original form isn't much to say the least. However with a bit of greebling and some lights one can turn out a fine example…"

They couldn't really destroy stars though could they? |

I remember when these ships were called "Battlecruisers" and NOT the ominous sounding "Star Destroyers". I agree with you saltflats1929- if these ships were capable of destroying stars as their name implies, then why would the Galactic Empire need a Death Star? Anyone have an explanation for that? George Lucas, where are you? |

Presumably the name was used in the Empire Strikes Back just because sombody liked the sound of it. Ironically in the EU they did eventually feature a weapon called a Sun Crusher which actually did destroy stars. It was tiny by comparison. |

Perhaps they are just destroyers that sail among the stars. |

The first one I got as a kid (die-cast, with a small plastic tantive IV in the main bay) was just called "Imperial Cruiser". |
