Hey all!

Well, thanks to the purchase of a new house, Lord Ashram's House of War is returning in just 60 (or so) days (assuming the inspection turns out okay)!

Plans are in the work for SEVERAL tables, including one dedicated to smaller scale wargames/X-Wing, a lot more cabinet space, and a pretty nifty coffee table which will have built into it some small dioramas! There will also be some sitting areas, a TV, an X-Box One, and everything else to make it a true man cave. Well, no bar, but everything else:)

So, come on by and take a peek at what is planned!:)

Whoo hoo!

It's always fun to plan out the new game room. I have done that 3 times now.

Looking forward to seeing your new set up.

Matthew

You aren't kidding:) It is all I can think about now:)

And I am considering a new type of table. I am thinking I MIGHT do terrain boards carved from foam. They just give me a few more options. But I might stick with what I've done in the past, just on a larger scale. Decisions decisions.

We are planning on building a new house to our specifications in about two years.

I have been planning the game room for at least a decade.

Ahh lovely to hear! As I recall the birth of your most recent child took priority, deservedly so, but I am very much looking forward to watching the progress on your new and improved House Of War.

Best of luck, I am keenly jealous, and please keep us up to date!

Sincerely,
Bob

Congratulations! This is your reward for so unselfishly giving up your former game room for your kids.thumbs up

Congrats to you! It's always fun planning out a new gaming space when the opportunity presents itself. Good luck with the new space!

What's all the piping on the ceiling for?

Lord Ashram06 Mar 2015 12:40 p.m. PST

Heat I guess? I don't know:)

And yeah, I am crapping my pants planning.

Lord Ashram06 Mar 2015 12:54 p.m. PST

laugh I already have the One, so I can't make that change.

And yes, it is forced air heating. The house itself is REALLY well done; the current (soon to be previous) owner is an anal retentive engineer with a REALLY nice eye. The whole place is FINISHED… just beautiful. They did put on a humidifier into the system, to avoid the house feeling super super dry.

Very Nice and better that your better half is good with this.

MadDrMark06 Mar 2015 5:28 p.m. PST

I was always impressed by your previous space, but I appreciate your enthusiasm for this new space. And it looks like it comes stocked with a small game table and some 1:12 soccer player minis!

I too always enjoyed your blog and I look forward to seeing you back again!

Lucky you!

Very nice. Looking forward to seeing the new House of War.

Yeah, I literally lie in bed every night thinking about this. Is that lame? 'Hmmm… I could do the cabinet over there… but then I would have to move the magazines over THERE… and where would the small table go…? Hmmm…'

uglyfatbloke10 Mar 2015 7:33 a.m. PST

Lame? Maybe. Natural? Absolutely. Are we all envious? Yup.

RuLane14 Mar 2015 9:18 a.m. PST

Pretty awesome. We're about to move from a small London flat to a 'very nice house in the country' (in the words of Blur) and this is at the topic my list…although a few practical things might have to come first. Watching with interest…

Might I suggest making some models to mess around with War Room layouts?

Lord Ashram14 Mar 2015 2:18 p.m. PST

As soon as I get the dimensions of the room (Tuesday) I'll so so!:)

Oh, one other idea to put in your head, not sure how possible this would be for you.

The FLGS in Bremerton, WA (Discordia Games) had 4x6 tables set on the large casters like what you'd use on a mechanic's roll-around toolbox. This way, you could have 2 games on a 4x6, or put two tables together for a 6x8 playing field.

If/when I have a house of my own, I'm planning on two of those tables.

Art17 Mar 2015 12:00 p.m. PST

Indeed…

Bremerton, WA…that is about 56 miles north from me.

Should I ever make it back to the real world…I use 25mm/28mm figures…

I might be persuaded to share my rules ;-)

Best Regards
Art

Yeah, my table has always been mobile… Although as far as pushing two tables together, I am not sure because I haven't settled on the overall design of the table. Foam under cloth? Terrain boards? When I settle in that I should have a better idea.

The smaller table won't be built to connect, as far as I am planning… That will be separate.
