I see a few threads related to this – but how is the Con so far? Lots of vendor cancellations – or did they get in before the snow? How is attendance? Crowds way down? Three hour drive for me that I'd rather not take Saturday if it's a deserted bust. |

Cold Wars … snow … seems somehow appropriate! |

Are the roads clear up in Lancaster, gentlemen and ladies? We're planning to come up this evening. |
Pizzagrenadier | 06 Mar 2015 7:26 a.m. PST |
Define "clear". They're not terrible by local standards but the bar is pretty low around here. |

All the horrible weather in PA was yesterday. Forecast is for cold and sunny. should be no problem. |

Hill leading up to the host is treacherous. May be better later. Parking lot at host mostly cleared, but very icy. Major roads snd interstates clear. |

Over here in the Everett, Washington area we have sun and near 60 degrees, clear roads, and blue skies so if the planners of future Cold Wars want to convene here, that would be great, as I could finally attend a CW convention. Until then, if you are attending the Cold Wars back east, please drive carefully to and from the event and stay safe and warm… - Scott |

Scott – They would have to rename it pleasantly warm wars or something to be there. |

Well, I'm here at the con and the roads, as of noon Fri, are pretty much clear. A lot of slush at the shoulders, but the main driving surface is good and dry. As for the Host's parking lot, its slushy (and you could get into trouble if you're stupid about it), but its getting better as the day wears on. Conditions are clear, sunny and cold. |

Dealer Hall has the highest empty-table rate I have ever seen, Wallys Basement is sparse and lousy, and Distlefink is 2/3s empty. Something is dragging this place down. |

Things were sparse early but filled now. Parking lots about full. |

Made it without too much trouble. Things a bit messy in the dealers' lot. A few dealers seem to have bagged it, but most are there-including me! Lots of games being played this evening, so people are coming. |

Roads are fine now. Plenty of gamers gaming and shoppers shopping! |

I got here in 3.5 hours when it normally takes me 3.5 hours. There are a few empty tables in the dealer hall but it doesn't seem as empty as it did last year. It was very empty Thursday night but filled up by the time it opened today. |

I had airline trouble, otherwise I might have made it up. I think if I were able to get to BWI the driving part would have been workable. |

Distelfink finally filled up late Friday night. Dealers could always be busier but seemed to have decent traffic everytime I swung down. Bar had the same amount of hooligans (and just enough Mad Elf). Travel and facilities for day trippers Saturday should be vastly improved versus Thurs-Fri. |
Moe the Great | 07 Mar 2015 6:00 a.m. PST |
Last night seemed very busy in the Distlefink. |

Getting there, no problem, getting home… I do not know enough expletives to describe my loathing of PENDOT. (is it Pendot that closed down the ENTIRE 30 north bypass around that town???) Stuck in a traffic jam for 1.5 hours in what would have been a 2.5 hour drive. While stuck there a couple of (more than a couple) accidents break out on 76 and 476, "heck" if I'm going that way to get home. Discovered that 352 is not a bad little stretch of road and will be using that and the Commodore Barry bridge from now on. Philly traffic is the definition of hellhole. |

No problem getting their and back from Long Island NY |
capncarp | 08 Mar 2015 10:44 a.m. PST |
Dynaman, I think you mean Rt 322 which will indeed take you down to where you can reach the Airport/Chester/Commodore Barry Bridge. It is a nice stretch of road, while not 65mph, it'll keep you moving when the traffic is jammed up on the big highways. Just don't get on it near Philly during rush hour. Re: Philly Traffic. It's an acquired taste, like limburger cheese, Durian fruit, lutefiske, fermented Icelandic shark meat, or live bugs. Which is why the Schuylkill Expressway in lovingly refered to as "the Sure-kill Expressway" |
Dynaman8789 | 08 Mar 2015 11:46 a.m. PST |
Nope, it was 352, meets up with 30 a bit past where that bypass happened. Why such a little street got a road number rather then just a name is beyond me but it was actually a pretty nice little stretch of road. 322 is a bit to the south of 352. |
