I have had a lot of requests for a renaissance-esque human army for my 6mm Fantasy line. I thought I could hit both markets by satisfying historical gamers as well. So what is absolutely needed for this time period? My current short list is as follows: Landsknecht Pikes (straight and 45 degree, armored and unarmored) Landsknechts with 2-handed sword Gendarme cavalry (lance and hand weapon) Landsknecht Halberdiers Landsknecht Arquebusiers Stradiots Arque. Cavalry Xbow cavalry Sword and Buckler Infantry Any other requests? Or is it silly because Irregular has a large line? |

I'd say Irregular and Heroics and Ros had the field well covered when I did the Italian wars in the 1980s. |

I suspect, most certainly, gendarmes on foot, with shortened lances, and/or swords, maces, hammers, etc., for storming the breach during those castle wall assaults. |

Irregular has a large line true, but then enveryone and his uncle does Napoleonics…. |

I think you need some weird Da Vinci/Empire style devices. |

At 6mm wouldn't Swiss and Landsknechts be very similiar? |
Sysiphus | 06 Mar 2015 7:58 a.m. PST |
Yes, at three feet way, and 6mm, they probably would. |

Does anyone produce gendarmes on horse, charging home, with lances leveled? If not, that's a must, in my book, in addition to some with lances upright, too. Casualty figures. |

Your list looks good I would suggest some artillery and camp and baggage items It would be nice if the scale was compatible with the larger 6mm done by manufacturers like Baccus This way we could incorporate the War of the oses range |

Perhaps a large, round, metal shield as well, for the gendarmes/men at arms, since I've seen some nice paintings of those, to go with their head to toe armor, and melee weapons, e.g. maces, hammers, swords. |

Good suggestions guys, thanks. So slightly bigger is better? More like 7mm? My main problem has been finding some consistent uniforms, it seems there were not many for the period. |

You are right about the uniforms Illustrations in the various Osprey books covering the perod would be a good place to start |

I for one would be very excited if this project got off the ground. I had a large number of Irregular Miniatures but just didn't like them. |

I too, would be excited by this. It would be very convenient to have a domestic producer of 6mm Landsknects. If this line is going to have a bit of a fantasy twist to it, it might be nice to see some heavily armored cavalry with crested helms as well as gendarmes. Certainly not Renaissance by any stretch, but it's hard to find a knight who looked like he stepped out of the Codex Manesse at the 6mm scale, and it doesn't seem like it's too out there if you're plowing the fantasy field as well. |

"Does anyone produce gendarmes on horse, charging home, with lances leveled?" Heroics & Ros do both on armoured or unarmoured horses and unlike irregular you can tell what it is and which way it is supposed to face |
