Interesting! Will have to have a look at it when it actually comes out, but yeah, probably going to buy a bunch of stuff. |
MaahisKuningas90 | 05 Mar 2015 5:07 p.m. PST |
Yay! Maybe finaly decent T-72M1.. :P |
Jemima Fawr | 05 Mar 2015 5:09 p.m. PST |
Yeah, I saw the news earlier, but why T-72s…? GFSG in the 1980s had mainly T-64, with T-62 going out and T-80 coming in. No T-72s. |
Garand | 05 Mar 2015 5:17 p.m. PST |
There's always QRF. They make both T-64As and Bs (as well as BVs depending on how late you want to go…) Damon. |
Weasel | 05 Mar 2015 5:35 p.m. PST |
Can always use more of this stuff. Nice. |

I keep hearing about this, but have not seen/can't find the official announcement. Can someone post a link please? |

Too late! I already have it in 10 mm. |
Jemima Fawr | 05 Mar 2015 6:30 p.m. PST |
Damon, Yes, and they're lovely – I've got 20 of 'em! :) I was just wondering why they're suggesting hordes of T-72s, which weren't present in GSFG. |

A cast-turret Leopard (1A1/1A2) would certainly be VERY useful. QRF only do the 'square'-turreted 1A3/1A4. (Incidentally, the re-modelled QRF Marder is very good indeed) |

The good thing about this is that Battlefront is a competent if expensive manufacturer. If you don't like the rules (and I do) you at least get a bunch of new toys available. |
Mako11 | 05 Mar 2015 6:55 p.m. PST |
Excellent news, and I'd much prefer T-64s and T-62s as well, and M60A1s for the Americans (instead of the M1 tanks). Yea, T-72s are planned for the Warsaw Pact nations, I suspect. Good to see there will finally be a focus on the Cold War in Europe. Can't come soon enough for me. |
benglish | 05 Mar 2015 6:55 p.m. PST |
Thanks for posting the link, Privateer. Much obliged. |

I want to see a M60A2 Starship. Useless as it was, as a kid I thought it was the coolest looking tank ever. |
Mako11 | 05 Mar 2015 7:00 p.m. PST |
Perhaps someone will produce an M114 eventually too, now, just because…… |

Can't wait to see the points values for tactical nukes! I'll bet they'll be off the charts, but, on the plus side, you'll have a lot fewer minis to paint, and it should be a lot less expensive than fielding an entire regiment, or division of armor at 1:1 scale. |
Badgers | 06 Mar 2015 6:48 a.m. PST |
I've been rather cool about Flames of War but the news about Fulda Gap may make me a believer – I think my wallet is about to be tac-nuked… |
basileus66 | 06 Mar 2015 7:26 a.m. PST |
I guess it will be set in the 80s, right? |
Tgunner | 06 Mar 2015 7:34 a.m. PST |
Well at the time we were told that the T-72 was the MBT for the Pact. So it fits if you're gaming what we use to game back in the 80's. Plus it was the T-72 that was in Team Yankee! |
Krieger | 06 Mar 2015 7:54 a.m. PST |
The East germans had T-72s, as did Soviet and polish follow on forces. Might be a bit early to yell yay or nay on army-lists though ;) I'm much to excited already. Hope they produce enough models, so we can actually play with them as well, and not just look at pretty pictures.. |
nickinsomerset | 06 Mar 2015 10:26 a.m. PST |
GSFG very much all T-64 and T-80, replacing T-62. 3SA certainly T-64, think 8 and 20 were T-80, around my time in the mid 80s, no sighting ever of T-72 except for the NVA who had a few and follow on forces. Central Group of Forces also equipped with T-64 have been looking at old phots of them being back loaded onto rail flats after the wall came down. Suggest someone tell BF! Tally Ho! |
Mako11 | 06 Mar 2015 11:25 a.m. PST |
Yea, all of the Soviet T-72s were back in Russia/Ukraine, apparently. |
Dawnbringer | 06 Mar 2015 3:09 p.m. PST |
But do we assume they stayed there? That is the question. |
GeoffQRF | 06 Mar 2015 3:58 p.m. PST |
We have quite liked making models for this period, since about 1996 ;-) |
charles popp | 06 Mar 2015 6:26 p.m. PST |
This looks cool. I wonder how they are going to do missiles. I am really jonsing over the other announcements: Riverine and Pacific!!!!! |
Charlie 12 | 06 Mar 2015 9:58 p.m. PST |
"But do we assume they stayed there? That is the question." Yes, they would have 'stayed there'. '72s were (as already noted) slated for the NVA and Sov follow-on forces. Now, if that's what BF wants to model, fine. But don't try and tell me its Fulda Gap… |
Weasel | 07 Mar 2015 11:18 a.m. PST |
I think it comes down to the fact that if they make a T72, people will buy T72. |
McWong73 | 07 Mar 2015 3:02 p.m. PST |
BF won't miss a chance to sell more models, I'd be reasonably confident that we will see a T80 and T64. What I do hope is that we don't see a straight port of the WW2 rules, especially the nation specific special rules like Hen and Chicks. |
williamtheconker | 08 Mar 2015 4:27 p.m. PST |
So, is anyone ever going to do 70's period cold war? Yes there are a dearth of vehicles available, German infantry, Russian infantry but where are the PB British with SLR and HELMETS? I would love to do cold war but it needs to be in 15mm cus all my scenery/buildings are in that scale but I want to do the 70's cus I was there LOL! So PLEASE one of you great makers of figures, put some helmets on em and you've got a few bob coming from me. I thank you |
Weasel | 08 Mar 2015 7:41 p.m. PST |
Don't QRF have brits with SLR? Or am I imagining things? |

Mako11 | 09 Mar 2015 12:09 a.m. PST |
QRF is working on the helmeted Brits. Sculpts are done. Just waiting on Chas to finish the molds for them, apparently. We could use some more Americans, but there are some available. Sadly, no one makes the M114 yet, but I keep hoping. |
williamtheconker | 09 Mar 2015 7:23 a.m. PST |
Mako, we live in hope. I emailed Peter Pig to see if he had any plans on the horizon but not heard anything as yes, it was only last Friday anyway and I've emailed QRF to get an update. It would be great to be able to do the 70's cold war, we had a few squeaky bum moments and it would be interesting to see what if. My son and I plan to do the gaming with an independent mate looking at the results and making 'plans' for both sides, to escalate or not? |
Mako11 | 09 Mar 2015 12:22 p.m. PST |
Yes, I'm hoping as well, but gave up holding my breath a while back, since I ran across a post dated 2012, saying they were just around the corner then, too. I suspect I've been wanting them, and badgering Geoff periodically, off and on, since before that. And, about those penguins, for the South Atlantic, I still can't find them at QRF either, even though they are rumored to exist. |
GeoffQRF | 09 Mar 2015 12:39 p.m. PST |
Chase has them. I'm working on Canadians (First Clash), some moderns with Fritz helmet and AK, and just toying with Chinese Civil War… I never did add penguins (did do geese and dogs, for dog patrols) though… they are with the helmeted Brits). MY did have penguins. Oh, just done two poses, prone with SIR and hrlmet… |
williamtheconker | 09 Mar 2015 3:20 p.m. PST |
Good to hear Geoff, have a word with your comrade in arms and tell him a very old aquaintance wants to part with some sheckles so he can fight his heroic battles. Seriously though, if you can give me a firm (ish) date on their release I will start ordering all the other stuff I will need, but I don't want to get everything and then end up waiting for the Brits…. |
Mako11 | 09 Mar 2015 6:45 p.m. PST |
Sorry, Geoff. Guess I got mixed up on the penguins. Any chance for seals, or sea lions, to serve as markers for beach landings, instead of chits (use them instead of real troops, combat swimmers, canoeists, marines, etc., until they are detected by the enemy)? I could use a pack or two of those, as well, for some good coastal skirmish fodder. |
williamtheconker | 09 Mar 2015 7:52 p.m. PST |
Nice one Mako, had a chuckle at that, I only want helmetted British infantry………….no rabbits….or squirrels..:) |
Mako11 | 09 Mar 2015 9:54 p.m. PST |
Actually, I know it's hard to tell, but I was being serious. They're much better than cardboard chits, or other counters, and some noisy creatures just might turn out to be carrying rifles. A sentry never knows, until he investigates. |
GeoffQRF | 10 Mar 2015 5:21 a.m. PST |
tell him a very old aquaintance wants to part with some sheckles so he can fight his heroic battles Already forwarded your email to him to make him aware… Any chance for seals, or sea lions, to serve as markers for beach landings Should be able to. no rabbits….or squirrels Done those already. |

GeoffQRF | 12 Mar 2015 3:11 a.m. PST |
Hang on, I have a walrus to do first…. and some penguins. How big is a Gentoo penguin in 15mm? |
