Looks like Bill still has a re-indexing problem … |

Its good to start each new day with a clean slate. |

Looks like Bill has a hostile intrusion example. Sorry, once is happenstance, twice is coincidence, three times is enemy action. |

The recent problems are most likely caused by the sheer size of the database. Since there appears to be no housekeeping (i.e. threads are never thrown away except when explicitly nuked by an administrator) the database will continue to grow over time. I suspect that we have reached a point where for some reason the re-indexing process can no longer handle the amount of data in the database. |

Otto, if it was enemy action, I can think of a lot more damaging things that could be done. |

Not enemy action… just large databases… |

'Not enemy action… just large databases…' just ask Tango to limit himself to under a 100 new threads a day then before the databases totally give up ;-) |

It's the new old new TMP! Ain't it grand? 8)= |

LOL, hostile intrusion… it is just broken. I've been around computer systems long enough to recognise one which is broken. With three instances it is not longer an 'event', but a 'problem', so it goes into 'problem resolution' aka Bill running around trying to fix it. Still, we always have the front page. Just crank that post count up to 400 and ignore some of our more prolific posters and Bobs your uncle. |

"it is not longer an 'event', but a 'problem'" When does it become an "undocumented feature"? |

:) Scalability was a secondary goal of the original design… |
Editor in Chief Bill | 04 Mar 2015 11:10 a.m. PST |
Scalability was not an option in the original TMP 3.0 technology. |

I blame the North Koreans. Probably their "devastating" counter to those military exercises we're running in cooperation with the South Koreans. The timing is not coincidental. ;-) |
