At the same time, these countries are facing some of the world's most intractable security problems, and are relying on their petroleum-funded militaries to an extraordinary degree.

Nigeria and Chad are battling the Boko Haram insurgency and various other internal and external security threats.

Algeria and Angola are veritable dictatorships run by their military establishments. And Libya and South Sudan are embroiled in civil wars in which access to income from oil rents plays an important role…"

$3.25 USD a gallon at my corner station tonight, so I'll be happy to see it drop again.

Rumors are storage capacity in the US is running out, and that they're pumping 1 million more barrels a day than we're using, so they're talking about another crash to $20 USD – $25 USD/barrel.

I sure hope that's true!

Yeah, that's great news for the people that use it, but the low prices are already causing job losses in the oil production areas.

On the flipside, the falling price of oil is perhaps the canary in the coal mine, and is a signal of a coming global recession/depression, depending upon which pundits you want to believe.
