"I've been making my own foam trays for a few years now and they've held up really well and they're really cheap to make. I can make a foam tray that fits in a Sabol case that's 1.5 thick for about $2 USD ¨C $3 USD a tray. Around here a pluck and pull tray is about $9 USD, so I make 3 trays for the cost of one pre-made one, can't beat that! This tutorial is aimed at infantry sized models, though will work with anything really. However, if you're looking to make some foam trays for something larger, like vehicles, then check out the tutorial that Kamui did for Tanks and Other Large Models…"

Very good find! I've made my own trays, but I tried drawing the cutouts and ended up with compartments that were all too often all squiggly. I will definitely have to try the cardboard template arrangement he advocates. Grelber |
