While waiting for my Gripping Beast Gladiators I painted a few 20mm scale TQD castings as 1940 Waffen-SS infantry.

I painted a mix of M38 SS Steel Grey and Heer Field Grey uniforms a not uncommon practice in 1940.
The SS-Oscha. helmet is covered with a Platanenmuster camouflage cover.

Slightly different angle;

Thanks for looking.

Stuart.

Very nice – what is your inking technique?

Thank you for the kind comments guys.

Very nice – what is your inking technique?

I don't use inks.
Immediately following the application of the first colours, I cover with a Black wash, then continue adding the highlights.

The following colours are painted boldly to enable the mini's details to stand out on the table or in the cabinet.

This method permits dry-brushing where necessary, (particularly good for helmets and leather).

Sickeningly good.

Always liked your bold contrast work – adds a level of definition in itself.
