Personally, I prefer Adler, but both are excellent. I think the choice is merely a stylistic one |

If you are in the US email me and I'll send you some sample Baccus strips. ScaleCreep.com |

Both are good and as History PHD suggests it may come own to a personal choice One of the important reasons I chose Baccus is because to me they are easier to base The majority of Baccus infantry figures are molded in strips of four figures based side by side. Baccus Light Infanry Cavalry and artillery crews and Adler are molded in strips where the figures are back to back This means that you have to individually cut trim and base each figure and when you are literally doings hundreds it is very time consuming |

I really like the Adler figures and feel they are simply better sculpts from an aesthetic point of view. BUT I've never done more than order some to see them in the flesh. I use Baccus exclusively (I have literally 1000's of them) because they will stand up to gaming better, are easier to base. They are nice figures as well, don't get me wrong. |

Both are great figures and the service from both companies is great as well. I think they look great together on the table although I would not put them on the same base/same unit. Baccus recently re-sculpted a lot of their Napoleonics by the way improving and broadening that line. toronto48 did describe one issue that is a major difference between the two lines. Baccus line infantry figures are usually in strips of 4 figures each and are designed to be painted and based that way. Almost all of the Adler figures are designed to be separated and placed individually on the base. For me, that means two strips (8 figures) on a base using Baccus or 5-6 Adler for the same type of figure. |

Adler, hands down. The heads are made to be just slighter larger which makes the unit show up really great on the table. regards Russ Dunaway |

Baccus infantry, Adler cav and guns. |

Both are good. I use mostly Baccus because they are simpler to paint and base. Which is an important consideration if you like big units but don't have loads of time! Adler cavalry are excellent, but a bit larger. I sometimes use these for heavy cavalry units. The Baccus website is easier to order from! |

I have a couple of galleries HERE for comparison; Adler French and Baccus British. Adler are the more detailed figures but I find the Baccus more sturdy and easier to paint for wargaming. They have a slightly different style to each other and the Adler are slightly larger. |

As you can read each has their merits and it is a personal choice. I got some of both painted them and decided on Adler and have bought tens of thousands subsequently. Personally I think that is the best way to go – a few strips of infantry, cav and maybe guns for each and see what you think. Both gents are great to deal with as well. |

My infantry is from Baccus, as these are easier to base, but my cavalry is from Adler. |

Both are great figures, its just Your personal preference for which you decide to go with. maybe order a pack from each company so you can see them side by side "in-the-metal" may help in your decision. |

I have both – like the Admiral, most of my infantry are Baccus – they are pretty easy to paint and base up quick My command stands are mostly Adler as are many of my cavalry – great figs but a little harder to paint |

It is not a binary option. I use both, but in different units. It adds a LOT more variety to your table top. |

Last year I was dragged kicking & screaming into the world of 6mm. It was pointed out to me that I had said "you may as well play with blocks of coloured wood" but hey ho! I tried (& tried & tried & tried) painting Baccus first but just couldn't get inspired and gave up. Was then given some Adler to try and 4 weeks later I had loads done & even bought some more. |

Hello Patonius! As you can see both have strong supporters and some support both. It will boil down to your what your objectives are and what style of painting you do or like. These will only start to be a little clearer after you have painted some units. A couple of things not mentioned so far that help make me pick Baccus were that their figures are close together and in uniform poses so the colours within the units seem to be stronger from a distance. Baccus also sells just about everything you need, flags, bases, rules, etc. They also sell their figures in units that match their basing so you never have odd figures left over. The biggest factors that sold me on Baccus was I just found them to be less fragile and easier to paint. I can paint them almost twice as fast as other 6mm figures. Baccus also offers more periods and are always expanding and updating their lines. So when I venture into other periods it's generally already there. Rarely is there a need to look elsewhere. Let us know which one you pick and why. Best regards, Glenn |

The good thing is that both options are great, so you're not likely to feel bummed out no matter which one you end up with. I got my British army from Baccus, and I'm very happy with it. However, now I plan to get a French army from Adler, just for the variation. |

For mass bases like Blucher/Volley and bayonet (ie big bases) go Baccus. For individual character or multi base battalions go Adler. Really depends on the rules, IMHO. |

I have large collections of both! Baccus are easier to base, but Adler are nicer I think, but fiddly to base up. |
