TCM is showing "The Swarm" a late 70's Irwin Allen extravaganza about Killer Bees. I actually saw this movie in the theater! Its got more "stars" in it than you can shake a stick at: Slim Pickens, Henry Fonda, Richard Widmark, Michael Caine, Katharine Ross, Olivia de Haviland, Ben Johnson, Fred MacMurray, Richard Chamberlain, Lee Grant, Jose Ferrer, Patty Duke, Bradford Dillman, Cameron Mitchell. They just don't make movies like that anymore. |

I remember watching it in the '80's on TV. Great stuff. I also thought 'Bug' (1975 movie about roaches) was pretty good. |

Mars Attacks has a fairly stellar star line up. I saw that in the movie theatre. I wonder what the martians think of bee swarms? "Gaaaaaakk aaakkk aakk" translation: look here comes a swarm of bees
I wonder what happened to those bees?

Doesn't nearly every single of those mentioned above die in the movie. |

And there was I thinking 'what have those innocent little buzzers done to deserve Colony Collapse Syndrome?' |

When I was in high school I did a science fair project inspired by The Swarm. It was laughed down. Now I live in Las Vegas and killer bee attacks happen four or five times a year here and they barely make the TV news anymore. |
