There was another aspect to the story – Napoleon apparently shot one of the Marshals by accident (Massena?) and then pinned the blame on Berthier. :) The problem with the rabbits was that Berthier had bought domesticated rabbits who associated humans with food and cuddles. :) One version describes the Imperial party retreating to the carriages, beating the rabbits off with horsewhips. And yes, I have 'wargamed' it as a bar-game at Warcon, many, many years ago. :) |
