Those are the finest painted Austrian Cav. I've ever seen. Congratulations on a great job. |

Beautiful. Those are some of the most colorful troops ever, and you've done them justice. Well done! |

wow they look great, I am intrigued about the yellow, there I am struggling with it at the moment with my French cuirassiers – yellow facings |

VW: Not trying to steal any thunder from Markconz, I use Liquitex soft body artists color Yellow. It covers quite well. Usually as a highlight over a dark yellow. |

Thanks everyone! And yes VM yellow is a tricky colour, and thanks for the tip wrgmr1. I've ended up using Averland sunset, highlighted with Yriel Yellow (both from GW), which also works pretty well. The Averland can be painted straight over black, and the highlight with Yriel then brightens it further. I talk a little about my preference for GW red and yellow "base" paints here, even though I use other paint brands for the most part: link |

I found the same. I prefer to spray on black first and with bright colours I have struggled to find something that covers acceptablely. Especially Vallejo yellows and white were a pain in the ass. I am sticking with GW for those as well as for red. Too much work otherwise, and I don't want to give 3-4 goes with each color when painting basic troops. |

You have to say one thing for Austrian Hussars, no one could ever have accused them of hiding from a fight! |
