I rarely venture into Napoleonic waters, but O8's 3mm has convinced me to take a dip. I'm trying to establish the number of squadrons in the Saxon cavalry regiments in 1806 and my paltry library for the period isn't helping much. It seems that the three chevauxleger regts were 4 squadrons each, the hussar regt had 10, garde du corps and karbineers had 2, and I'm at a loss as to the two kürassier regts. Can anyone shed a bit of light? Thanks!

EG Hourtoulle's book on Jena-Auerstadt gives the Hussar Regts strength at 8 squadrons, and the Cuirassier Regts at 4 squadrons each.

Even better for the hussars as it's less painting

I cover the organization and uniforms of the Saxon cavalry in these two blog posts:

Main source is Nafziger, et al "Poles and Saxons of the Napoleonic Wars", plus the Osprey and others.

Glad to be of service; the Saxon army is a very colorful one, and their flags are quite unique.

Saxony was also the second biggest loser in the peace that resulted from the Congress of Vienna, after… Denmark!
