I have decided to create a new 18th Century Imaginations blog for the Kingdom of Hesse Seewald at the following link:

hesseseewald.blogspot.com

The purpose is to have one place for all of my Hesse Seewald blog content and keep it separated from my general interest historical Der Alte Fritz Journal blog.

Here is a picture of King Georg Ludwig II and the Erbprinz Friedrich, who commands the Hesse Seewald army:

I have added some backstory history of Hesse Seewald on a new page on the blog ("The History of Hesse Seewald") – see page tabs on the right hand side of the page.

This provides some of the background for the pending War of the Saxon Duchies between Hesse Seewald and Saxony. This in turn will begin to generate battles and battle reports and lots and lots of pictures on the blog.

As the HS army units get painted, they will have their pictures posted in the HS Army page tab, along with a running history of each regiment during the upcoming campaign.

Hurrah for Hesse-Seewald joining the "kool kids" with a blog!!

It's a very nice looking site.

Over the weekend, I loaded up lots of pictures of the Hesse Seewald army, using Minden Miniatures Prussians.

Check out the latest developments on the blog. We are setting the stage for the start of the war with Saxony.

The new regiment's colour scheme is very pleasant, including the drummers' reversed colours.

Was going to leave a comment on your Tuesday post, but somehow I'm too clumsy to do so on your blog, and now your accompanying text seems to have disappeared?

Anyway, it's quite an original approach to use a modern map rather than a (faux) antique one – but then Germany still is a bit of a patchwork… Note that the map actually has sixteen states. Even if you roll Berlin into Brandenburg, as is only right and proper, you still get to play with the Free and Hanseatic Cities of Hamburg and Bremen – the last remnants of the Holy Roman Empire in a way. In that vein, I would suggest amputating Bavaria of its northern territories, reinstating the Franconian Circle? Unless of course there is no Reichsarmee in your context.

As for Nordrhein-Westfalen, its territory largely coincides with the 18th C. holdings of the Archbishop of Cologne, giving you a second Prince of the Church in the mix. The Saarland historically belonged to the Palatinate, so could go to Bavaria as compensation for Franconia?
