Made a flying visit to the show today, missed last years. I was impressed with the quality and range of games .. and a number of stands had excellent amounts of figures/ other new stuff … on display. |

I went and took my wife. We had a good time. I finally got to play a game of Bolt action. |

We had a great time. We really like the venue, nice and spacious, well lit and clean. Had a good game of WoW WW2 with the very friendly guys from the WoW Aerodrome (JohnBiggles and Flying Officer Kyte thank you)and thoroughly enjoyed a game of Five men in Normandy with the guys from Lincoln. I have played Normandy Firefight before, and those rules left me distincly non-plussed so I approached this with some reservations. However, the enthusiasm (and chivalry!) of the opponent and umpire more than swayed myself and my 7 year old player and we had a great game. Great terrain helped to make everything 'pop', and the game was fast moving and stimulating which helped to keep a young mind engrossed and interested. I was surprised at how you could have such a great game on such a small playing surface and with so few figures. The rules were easy to pick up as well. The freebies at the end were much appreciated. Many thanks to all concerned for entertaining us. |

I really enjoyed the show and the time absolutely flew; it was almost 4pm before I knew it! I loved the fact all games were participation games and I tried out 3 that I specifically wanted to see in action; The Rules With No Name, Dead Man's Hand (DMH) and Lion Rampant. The small game of DMH I played was enough to convince me to buy it. I had been skeptical about the card play but that aspect was not overly dominant and, in fact, added great flavour & fun. Lion Rampant, which I played at the end of the day, made a simple, fun game that would have been quick if the kid who was playing hadn't taken so long pedantically measuring (and then, ironically, ignoring those measurements by adding on a bit each time!), moving models individually & slowly, and pausing (dithering?) between activations. I think I managed to be subtle in my attempts to help him speed his play to keep the game flowing but perhaps my frustration showed through occasionally! Just one of the challenges of playing at a show, I suppose. (Another challenge is coping with rude b******s. I snapped my ACL a few weeks ago and I'm currently wearing quite a large knee brace. Despite this obvious sign of injury, I was almost knocked over by a fat bloke who just kept pushing me with his gut so he could get nearer the table-top sale!) |

Great to meet you Cambria. It was a pleasure to do the Lion Rampant game, and I'm so glad people gave their time to have a go. I'm in agreement there with you about the inherent rudeness existing in the human race (it's not just confined to Wargames shows I'm afraid). Luckily the space available at Hammerhead meant that I avoided getting knocked on my ass by ill-mannered punters, as has almost happened at places like Vapartnak and Triples. |
