Once again my South American Wars of Liberation armies take to the table, as I play the fourth scenario in One-Hour Wargames. link This time I used my Liberated Hordes HOTT variant, but with 12-element armies. Can a combined force of Chilean and Argentinian Patriots hold a strategic hill against a Royalist attack? |

Lovely compact battle, I think the tweak of stopping the 'ganging up' potential was a good choice as was going with 12 elements. I wonder how the One-Hour Wargame rules themselves would have coped with the increase in elements in that space? I hope to have a dabble myself with some ACW forces in the near future |

"I wonder how the One-Hour Wargame rules themselves would have coped with the increase in elements in that space? " I should have said in the post. I played on a 16" x 16" board, with 1" = 100p. The elements have a 1" frontage. So in terms of HOTT the frontage vs width is about standard, but the board has less depth than a basic game would. However the armies mostly started further apart. I may experiment with the OHW rules (or my variant thereof) but more units per side at a later date. At some stage I'm tempted to refight an historical action with the, just to see how they play outside of their 'natural environment' :) |

As for the 'ganging up', that's allowed in HOTT shooting as well, but in HOTT you wouldn't see it to such a degree unless you fielded armies consisting mostly of Shooters. All the time. |
