"Not a soul could help but be outraged by the two recent atrocities that the Islamic State (IS) has unleashed upon the world. The first of these was the immolation of Jordanian fighter pilot Muath al-Kasasbeh on Feb. 3, followed a short time later by the ceremonial execution of 21 Egyptian captives in Libya. This last horror show not only gave IS bonus points for wreaking fear among the general public, but also embedded images in the international community's awareness of a new arena taken over by the group. So far we have seen Syria, Iraq and the Sinai Peninsula, and now there is also Libya. Traces of IS can be found in each of these places, and if not IS per se, then at least its corrupt legacy…"

Why? The Palestinians are supported by Iran, a Shia state. As disgusting as ISIS is, it generally leaves Israel alone and by regional standards isn't a bad neighbor to Israel. Support the enemy of your enemy. Also, there has been talk that ISIS is selling Israel cheap oil.

A news story broke today mentioning Iran has been cooperating with AQ, and others, providing them protection in their country, and material and financial support apparently too.

I've long suspected that, and there have been rumors of such aid for quite some time.

Makes me wonder if they are harboring Mullah Omar. Hopefully, someone will look into that.

Supposedly, the Iranians have aided the Taliban in Afghanistan and Pakistan as well.

The official news only came out today, since they're prosecuting one of the terrorists in NY, and the prosecutors needed to make the intel public to make their case.

Thus far, only 17 documents have been released, out of 1.5 million that were captured on the bin Laden raid, despite administration claims of transparency on the subject.

Apparently too, bin Laden was actively involved with AQ, despite his hiding in Pakistan.

So, I can see why the Israelis would choose the enemy of their enemy, since that helps balance out the power of the Iranians in the region.

Bin Laden was actively involved with AQ? Well, whatever next?

I'd be hugely surprised if Iran was supporting ISIS,AQ or the Taliban since those are all rabid Sunni organisations who regard Shia Iranians as heretics worse than western infidels. Iran was fighting the Taliban in western Afghanistan before the US & Britain got involved there.

I doubt Israel is supporting Syrian rebels as much as taking advantage of the chaos to take swipes at Hezbollah. The Assads seem to have been regarded as reliable by Israel and the last thing Israel will want is a jihadist state on its borders.

Yes, I agree … I think that is bottomline … Israel is still an island of Jews, in a sea of moslems. Albeit, countries, like Jordan are not a threat … at least at this time …

The point being with bin Laden is that some thought he'd retired in Pakistan, but documents seized show that to be incorrect, and that he was still actively involved in decision-making/controlling the group, after 9/11.

Count yourself surprised then Latto6, since its now open intel, being pushed by the NY/Fed prosecutor(s), in the current, ongoing terrorist trial there.

Again, as with us, Israel, and others, the enemy of my enemy…….

Pretty sure it came out at the time – wasn't there talk of capturing heaps of info, digitised and disguised as dvds?

Course it doesn't suit the war on terror narrative that Pakistani elements were conniving with bin Laden.

Sorry to sound cynical but you do say yourself only 17 documents released out of 1.5 million

News of the cache was reported, but no details of what was in the documents/hard-drives seized.

"Course it doesn't suit the war on terror narrative that Pakistani elements were conniving with bin Laden".

I see nothing to contradict that, since clearly they were aware of his presence, and were protecting him.

Absolutely, and sponsoring terrorists against Kashmir who pop up in Afghanistan and God knows where else, never mind murdering their own non Sunni citizens by the hundred. Like Saudi though, the Pakistanis are officially "good guys" so can't be criticised honestly.

I'm not really arguing with you on this one – I'm just Bleeped texted off with the hypocrisy and weakness of our government.

Indeed … I can say the same on this side of the pond …

though its worth pointing out that the Pakistani security forces have lost many personnel to terrorism as well of course as their children in the case of the attack on the army school (so its not just the deaths of non Sunnis, as I presume most of the military and police killed are Sunnis)
