I am watching From Russia with Love (available free on Comcast On Demand; see your local Comcast sales rep )
when I noticed that the Evil Chess Master Bronstein is the spitting image of Vlad.
Coincidence? I think not.

I don't see the resemblance…

Ron

P.S. The actor's name was Vladek Sheybal; though you never see him and Putin in the same place and time.

Winston Smith27 Feb 2015 6:57 p.m. PST

He has hair in your picture.

HistoryPhD27 Feb 2015 7:13 p.m. PST

Hmmmm, looks nothing at all like Putin

Garand27 Feb 2015 8:34 p.m. PST

Actually the current James Bond sort of reminds me of Putin for some reason…

Damon.

Political Komissar's name on "Red October" is Putin…

Chess master does look like Putin, a little bit.

Ian Flemming who was the creator of James Bond was CIA wasn't he? Maybe he was trying to tell us something?

Ironwolf27 Feb 2015 10:31 p.m. PST

Ian flemming was naval intel

And Royal Navy at that, not USN, Coelacanth1938.

I think that bloke looks more like Lurch from the Addams Family than like Putin. ;-)

Dal.

Hmmmm as Casino Royale was made in 1967 Vlad the shirtless at 15 probably had some hair, however as a Pole Vladek Sheybal would have kicked your arse for suggesting he was Russian.

Coelacanth
I feel the fact that Sheybal died in 1992 has a lot to do with him and Putin not being seen together.

Oh a for suggesting that Fleming was a member of the CIA I would hold his jacket, and Martini, while he kicked your arse. ;-)

He was, but no one could see him because he forgot to put the lifts in his shoes.

Yes, Fleming was RN. But in theory the UK and US intel assets may work together at times …

And at other times they stick a half-dozen spooks on a ship headed for a US port visit, borrow a US Sailor or three for a tour of HM's ship, and then take him down to the crew's mess taps for some beers and start talking shop. Just to see what Uncle Sam *isn't* telling them!

Don't make me break out my Gollum pictures.

skippy000105 Mar 2015 6:02 p.m. PST

Actually, Putin reminds me of Bob Newhart and Joey Bishop.

Jemima Fawr06 Mar 2015 3:08 p.m. PST

I expect that he was in a Russian remake of Brokeback Mountain.

ubercommando12 Mar 2015 3:31 a.m. PST

Putin appears in the opening scene of The World Is Not Enough, playing a Swiss banker. Of course, he's working under the pseudonym of Patrick Malahide.

Henry Martini12 Mar 2015 5:30 p.m. PST

Well, he's certainly gotahide.
