"RIP, Mr. Spock. Scotty and Bones are waiting for you to join the away team."

I think you mean landing party, Ambush Alley Jim – away team was a TNG thing.

A very sad day, Star Trek had a huge impact on me growing up. I will miss him tremendously.

Yes and icon in my life is gone – a foundation stone in my gaming wall
Thank you Mr Spock

Sad news, yet the silver lining is that Leonard Nimoy has left us all with a legacy that is his body of work, which IMHO is as timeless as the stars across which Mr. Spock traveled so often and well.

I for one will always cherish the wisdom he first uttered on the silver screen so long ago, "The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few, or the one."

Simple, logical, and yet eternally profound.

Thank you indeed, Leonard Nimoy, for inspiring so many of us so well!grin

He will be missed. Greatly missed.

he smoked like a chimney for years, a highly illogical thing to do…..

And he regretted it in a recent tweet. Still, he outlived the life expectancies for males in the US (77.4) and worldwide (68.5), all things considered.

RIP, Mr. Spock. Mr. Quinto never could hold a candle to ya.

Maybe not, but then again nobody could play a Vulcan like him, with the exception of Mark Leonard.

Really sad news!

Shattered, Spock was always a hero of mine.

Very sad. I don't often venture into this part of TMP but I am surprise there isn't a "Star Trek" board or at least I don't see it. But there is a Star Wars board, strange.

Now would be an appropriate time to start one.

An important part of my growing up years was Star Trek, Leonard Nimoy may now be gone, but I will continue to enjoy watching him on DVD/TV. His memory will continue.

"How we face death is at least as important as how we face life."

I'm stunned by the news. I don't know why exactly, but Mr. Nimoy's passing has stirred feelings of loss I never would have expected.

Martin Rapier27 Feb 2015 3:24 p.m. PST

RIP Leonard. His solution to the Kobiyashima Maru is always mine.

He was a pretty good singer too.

They forgot to mention that he had a few roles in the TV show "Combat!"

He also had a couple of lines in "Them!"

Oddball27 Feb 2015 5:12 p.m. PST

What a drag (to use a phrase from the period).

BIG WALLY27 Feb 2015 5:53 p.m. PST

He lived long. He prospered. He brought a lot to so many people. He is and will be missed for a very long time.

One of the lights in the night sky has faded and left us. Thank you, Mr. Nimoy, for your work and your legacy. Though not a scientist, you inspired them. Though not a logician, you fostered them. And by portraying someone who was not human, you taught us all more about what it means to be human. May the stars shine forever brightly where you have gone.

War Monkey27 Feb 2015 7:25 p.m. PST

It's a sad day for us around here.

Sargonarhes27 Feb 2015 8:18 p.m. PST

His last post on Twitter.
"A life is like a garden. Perfect moments can be had, but not preserved, except in memory." – Leonard Nimoy

His Katra will live on inside of us.
Even for a Klingon like me.

Justin Penwith27 Feb 2015 10:06 p.m. PST

My nickname, for years, was "Spock."

I wish I'd had the chance to meet him at a convention, but alas it was never meant to be.

He did reply to a tweet of mine once…

One of the few lines that ever brought me to tears in a movie was one of his,

"I have been and always shall be, your friend." – Spock

This has to rank as the best tribute to the man:

The news is enormously sad – for me at least.

Smoked like a chimney? Drank like a fish too. So what?

Judgement is for all – good job we all lead such exemplary lives, eh?

I feel very hollow. Frankly I'm just gritting my teeth and thinking about the future and Bill Shatner.

I you see what I mean…

I met him at a lecture he gave in the years after TOS went off the air and the 1st movie came about. He was very nice to the fans and I was able to ask him a question. I also briefly talked with him. He gave us the info that the movie was being planned, to our joy. I will always remember that experience.

His passing just reminds me that we all are aging and those we admire in our youth will all slowly fade away with time.

RIP Mr. Nimoy.

Sargonarhes01 Mar 2015 8:12 p.m. PST

Well John you got lucky.
I never got to meet Nimoy either, or my #1 childhood hero John Wayne, he died a long time ago. Never got to meet Steve McQueen either.
But last year I did meet my #3, Lee Majors. At least I can have that.
