I game 28mm skirmish and maybe I am missing something but I have yet to see a really nice German sniper figure.
I love Atrizan figures, but theirs looks like he is holding a pulse rifle.
Might be a sculpting opportunity for someone?

Well, I think this Black Tree figure in the German Character pack is pretty dang nice. But you may feel differently… 8)=

This Assault Group figure isn't bad, either, although I don't think it holds a candle to the BT one.

You could buy some Warlord's plastic figures and assemble one. I've done so. Among other advantages, you get to build in your own vision of cool.

How about this well camouflaged one from VF?: link

There's also a standing one, but the scope looks a little small and far off: link

They also have a nice SS sniper without helmet: link

and the standing one looks pretty nice too, but the eye should be closer to the scope: link

Warlord has a nice prone one also, but it comes in a pack with other specialists: link

The BTD one is nice indeed, but I find BTD's Germans a bit slim compared to my chunky Artizan and Warlord Germans. Never mind the differences in head size or bulkiness of the limbs, but the kit (helmet, length of the rifle and size of the equipment like gas mask canisters and water bottles) don't match.

"…nice SS sniper"???
I guess that's relative. grin

Ooo, this is fun, like a scavenger hunt! Victory Force have a very nice kneeling sniper, and I have found that a figure kneeling downplays the slight size difference in their models. link

West Wind's Berlin or Bust range has a full pack of snipers and flamethrowers. There are some good prone snipers in it but their models are a bit small compared to other lines and I find they don't match well.

We (Warlord) have a couple of them – one SS and one FJ:

There's only one prone. The rest are kneeling and on the move. To my mind, the fact that the figures *are* prone or kneeling, and the fact that they're liable to be deployed alone makes the size difference OK. The old Warlord Games line had a pretty nice sniper-spotter combo. To my mind the BTD one is the best of them all.

I agree!

this being another one.

These are the 2 most common weapons used by German snipers in WWII As with most things there were custom made weapons used but there 2 are the ones made and issued by the army. :)

Ron W DuBray27 Feb 2015 11:54 a.m. PST

there was a simi auto but I don't remember how much it was used.

Todosi27 Feb 2015 12:48 p.m. PST

The SVT 40 was the semi auto. It is actually a Russian weapon that was captured and used fairly often by the Germans on the Eastern Front.

@Todosi : I think he meant the Gewehr '43 sniper. This one starts at $2,500 USD, :)

Black Tree Design have two packs of SS snipers. This being the better looking one in my opinion.

Thanks for playing guys- I think the Victory Force win out over all.
May have to pick up a couple.

All you need is a base with some foliage or rubble.
now that's a good sniper.
Just don't hide behind the single tree.
