Howdy folks,

I was taking stock of my blog posts and thought I'd share one of my earliest posts with you…this project consumed an amazing amount of my time…tried very hard to accurately depict Canadian Leopard 2 tanks in Afghanistan.

Take care and thanks for the views.

Great work with what you had to start with. I think the GHQ micro armor has more detail on it than this model.

Sweet! Nice work on the slat armour.
Watcha going to do about LAVs? That was what pushed me into 1/72 scale.

Oiler72:
Brilliant work you have done on the QRF Leopard II. I am also beginning to build an ultramodern Canadian force for skirmish gaming in Afghanistan and I am contemplating doing scratch builds for LAV III's and variants. I will also be building one or two Leopard IIA6's for the force. Your work will save me time and has inspired me. So thank you and congratulations on a job very well done!
Cheers.

Nice work!!

Thank you folks…

@jamesonsafari:

As for the Lav's, I'm not too sure yet…I have plenty of reference pics, but don't have a plan yet for moving forward.

Cheers.

Oiler72:
You should mention your desire to get LAV III's to Geoff at QRF. I have been reminding him and urging him for a while (he might call it harassing him) but I am one voice in the wilderness. If others would chime in then maybe we could convince him that there is a market for LAV III's and their variants as well as ASLAV's which folks down under are clamouring for.
Geoff at QRF:
So what do you say Geoff? LAV's and ASLAV's – you want to make these, there is a rich market niche waiting to be filled. Go on and pull the trigger on these puppies; you know you want to!
Your LAV III cyber stalker.

Always open to more harassment.

@Rod:

LAV IIIs would be awesome…in the meantime it gives me a chance to work on my adaptiveness skills, lol.

@Geoff:

Excellent answer!! I hope I've done your models justice.

Cheers,
Stan

You've done an excellent job.

Oiler7202 Mar 2015 8:56 a.m. PST

Thank you Geoff…certainly wasn't compelling you to comment, but I will take the compliment. In researching the Leopard 2 I found a real variance in configuration and appearance over the years it has been in service.

I think what I liked most about the model was the ability to morph it to the specific variants that I wanted…and I was able to do that with a minimum of filing or manipulation with the metal. It took the glue well, didn't give me any hassles when I actually put medical tape on it to make the barracuda kit…

all in all, I was happy with the model.

Thanks again,
Stan

Geoff:
Think of the outstanding job Oiler72 could do on some LAV III's and variants. I bet you would be impressed. What a shame that none are available in 15mm. Hmmm, something to think about, no?
Cheers and good gaming.
Rod Robertson.
