The alien Itu'a have proven to be a hit!

Question for those who have bought some: What additional species would you like to see to bolster your swarms? Keep in mind that the huge Rukh warbeast (it's as big as a Siler) is soon to be released -- it functions as a form of bio-APC until it has puked out the troopers, then runs off to hunt enemy tanks.

So, flyers maybe? Or something else?

Tom Reed27 Feb 2015 7:19 a.m. PST

Ooooh, flyers! And how about some sort of low slung multi-appendaged flame thrower or pollen spewer.

Rhoderic III and counting27 Feb 2015 7:31 a.m. PST

I'm not a buyer yet, but more varieties and/or poses of bio-mecha would be golden.

flyers-boring….. typical bio alien type…..

i would rather see a living mortar or drill//digger troops…………

Tech specialists: the Itu'a equivalent of Medics, FOOs and Electronic Warfare operators.

That's an intriguing idea -- any thoughts on particulars?

kenohhkc27 Feb 2015 9:29 a.m. PST

As a recent purchaser of a horde, I would like to see:

1. some nasty options for heavy bio weapon teams
2. I like the specialists comment.
3. some horde swarms of smaller Itua with a controller(assumed mental/phermone etc).
4. Some field artillery pieces (Spitters/globbers/floaters/bioelectrical shooters/what have you)
5. I would really like to have some assualt crabs that have no weapons, but have big rending claws. so no shooty, but all HtH.
6. smaller APC that holds about 10 regulars.
7. Flyers

Love the line. I'll keep buying whatever goes into it.

For a medic you could have something designed to 'eat' wounded itu'a which then get shunted along a tube which administers bio-science-magic healing. Then they come out the other end healed but perhaps a bit messy.

kenohhkc I think I can provide something for 5. pretty easily by doing mods to the Sponk to give it an Itu'a like face….

I'm still waiting on one of these:

On a more serious note, I'd like to see something in a fire support role similar to this Vulk guy:

Also, for an APC type concept, maybe a walker like the one you've got, but with blisters on the sides that would open up and eject the Myriads directly onto the battlefield.

Or a large two-legged walker with the pods along its underbody that would drop the Myriads onto the ground! Something with the chitinous armor-plate aesthetic of the Assault Crabs but the general shape and balance of a T-rex.

khurasanminiatures27 Feb 2015 12:30 p.m. PST

The APC bug I have coming does eject the myriads directly onto the battlefield.

Sweet! Looking forward to it!

Did you have any further plans for the Vespulids?

BlackWidowPilot Fezian27 Feb 2015 1:45 p.m. PST

I'm with javelin98 on that cat in a boater. Perhaps you could issue a freelancing Felid mercenary figure that has acquired two souvenir pieces of human attire the hulking Felid has become fond of wearing…evil grin

As for your new Itu'a, I second the suggestion about specialists. For the EW "operators," perhaps an Itu'a sporting rows of tall spines along its back ala the fin spines on a lionfish:

For the Forward Observer, perhaps an extra set of oculars akin to a hammerhead shark's arrangement but forward looking like an optical rangefinder:

As in the image above, instead of just two eyes one on each end, further pairs of eyes located along the outriggers could be added to enhance the Itu'a's rangefinding abilities.

I like these ideas.

Twoball Cane27 Feb 2015 9:35 p.m. PST

I'm using these itua with ravenstar horrids….so I'm set with transport

I would like

1. Other bio mecha
2. Stealth itua…tall and skinny…w bio knives etc.
3. Flying itua
4. Some kind of attack dog-thing

Probably others…I love em..they remind me of how I felt when I saw the vornid…..just wow….

Quaker28 Feb 2015 12:40 a.m. PST

Something in between the size of the little Itu'a and the biomech, but more in the style of the little Itu'a and not the assault crabs.

Also, melee only versions of the riflebugs.

kenohhkc02 Mar 2015 10:24 a.m. PST

Jon, I like the cockroachy feel of the assault crabs. The Sponk is definately more crustacean and doesn't seem to fit(much as I like them) in style when I put mine next to the AC's. I think you would need to add some ridge and segmentation detail on the shell as well on the mod.

I got a chance to blue tac each of the packs on to bases over the weekend, and I must say these are some of the very best you have done. Great sculpts, evocative, unique, and bio weapons that feel like bio weapons. Great job on all of them. This is a great line.

Maybe a "brain bug" or something which is an obvious HQ type, too. Each subunit could have one embedded with it, creating a telepathic network by which to share tactical information. You can show that in 15mm-scale somehow, right?

khurasanminiatures02 Mar 2015 6:10 p.m. PST

Thanks Ken. Actually, I was just looking at the Sponk sculpture today, and its body form is uncannily similar to the Itu'a. There will be modifications, but I'm going to use the Sponk body as the base body for some Itu'a medium sized support monster bugs. The face will be changed to make it look more like an Itu'a, and perhaps some of the carapacing will be modified to be more Itu'a as well.

There will be three I think – – one will have two huge claws, a close assault monster; a second will have two heavy gun arms; and a third will have a huge mortar growing right off of the top of its shell, with vestigial on either side, curved back to serve as reloaders!

Grignotage02 Mar 2015 7:26 p.m. PST

I would like assault crabs with big weapons---basically anti-tank rifles.

More gun-slug options.

I like the idea mentioned here about living artillery pieces.

I for one have zero interest in flyers, but I'm also the guy who loves 15mm sci-fi but has not bought a single dropship, so I might be an outlier. :)

SpaceJacker03 Mar 2015 3:13 a.m. PST

Haven't ordered yet, but on my immediate list!

Support troopers with big heavy weapons,
Canine/drone units,
Leader types (suitably posed trooper with some kind of command pods, head or different shaped armour pieces, different weapon)

Flyers make sense from a "space insects" point of view, but I hate flying bases so wouldn't probably buy them. Itu'a with stubby wings and short range weapons (jump troops) on the other hand, would be cool.

kenohhkc03 Mar 2015 6:22 a.m. PST

That sounds great Jon. Really like where this is going.

Jacker, I thought the flying Itu'a could have a big carapace with two openings that shoot out bio thrust/bubbles/pixie dust, and that coupled with massive legs could combo jump and jump pack for assault troops.

kenohhkc03 Mar 2015 6:23 a.m. PST

I was working on 15mm fantasy units for Hail Caesar Fantasy, but now, I think this weekend I just have to start on these guys. Sorry Orc skirmishers.

khurasanminiatures03 Mar 2015 6:31 a.m. PST

Good ideas Spacejacker -- love the drone/canoid idea. Also a bio jump pack for the myriads is a great idea.

There's a leader for the myriad squad already in the set -- might not be obvious from the image but he has a bio pistol. Higher level command was intended to be provided by the Satrap biomecha, which is basically a command suit the leadership caste wear. But people are asking for more command so will have to give that a think too….

One other model will be made -- a burrower. It will have four short stubby legs, then a massive set of burrower arms in front which almost look like beetle mandibles to dig through dirt and rock. It will be able to make tunnels large enough for the myriad troopers to get through. The head will be separate and I'm hoping will fit right into the hole in the bug burrow I have available, so that you can mark the exit point if you need to. It won't be a large bug--just big enough to make such a tunnel. Myriads tasked with infiltration would have a beetle attached.
