It's time to set phasers to Bit-of-a-cough!

The 6th Future War Commander Bootcamp will take place on 30th & 31st May 2015 in Slimbridge, Gloucestershire

2 days of 6mm Sci-Fi scenarios and a mini-campaign – Mad Max, Frondulans Show and Kill, My Massive is more massive than your Massive and not-Stargates. Who could ask for more?

Is this event specfically aimed at newbie players?

Shedman27 Feb 2015 7:55 a.m. PST

It's aimed at all experience levels from anyone who wants to learn how to play FWC to players who know the stats backwards

We do various multi-player games with one or two one-on-one sessions thrown in on the Saturday.

On the Sunday we usually do a mini-campaign with 2,3 or 4 related games

So why call it a "Bootcamp" then?

That is an awesome "It-looks-like-a-Stargate-but-copyrights-prevent-it-from-being-called-such"!

When I was thinking of a name for the weekend I had these two items on my desk

and FWC Wellington Coffee sounded silly

grin

You had a Wellington boot on your desk?

Perhaps "FWC Games Day" might have been more descriptive?

A great event in prospect.

Normally I don't allow any items of footwear on my desk but seeing as it was being worn by a lady friend at the time I was in no mind to object.

FWC Games Day would be more descriptive – actually FWC Games Days would be more accurate as it is over two days

As it comprises scenarios and a mini-campaign maybe I should call it FWC S&M. Although I imagine it may attract a different crowd

It might attract those with certain types of boots, that's for sure. Definitely a "boot camp" in that case.

Will Camp coffee (ready, aye ready) be provided? I used t love that stuff as an iced latte back in the day….

Aetius LastoftheRomans01 Mar 2015 1:20 p.m. PST

Personally I think Boot Camp is the correct terminology.
You have to have some Veterans or at least experienced players to pass on their experiences to the newbies.

Otherwise it would be pretty pointless – newbies helping other newbies to learn the rules is a bit like the blind leading the blind (so to speak).

Anyway … last years event was fab & I hope this years event is as good if not better … so I say Huzzah for FWC Boot Camp & a pointy-stick up the car-park for all who say otherwise
