I am about to start on a Grenadier brigade to add to the near finished infantry brigade for my new fledgling army. My queries are as follows. 1) Would the brigade have a Liebfahne flag allocated to one of the battalions . If so is it normally carried by the lowest numbered unit( regimental number)? 2)Would the Brigadier General ( or Austrian Equiv) wear a Grenadier type helmet ? 3) Could/would artillery be allocated to a Grenadier Brigade? Cheers guys |

1. Each battalion would carry an Ordinärfahne (yellow flag) usually from the senior regiment. 2. The general commanding would wear a general's uniform. Mounted officers with grenadier battalions tended to wear cocked hats as well. 3. Certainly in 1809, the grenadiers did receive brigade batteries in support. |

Agreed, except Brigadier, not Brigadier General. It's an office, not a rank (similar to Commodore in the Royal Navy). A Brigadier would usually have the substantive rank of Colonel. AFAIK, only the French and Americans have actual Brigadier Generals in this period. Well, maybe some of the French puppets, too. |

I believe Austrian brigades are usually commanded by a Generalmajor, divisions or corps by a Feldmarschall-Leutenant. |

Austrian Grenadier Brigades were commanded by a General-Major (GM) which is the equivalent of a US/UK Brigadier General and a French General de Brigade |
