I have been looking online everywhere and can't seem to find 54mm scale dungeon tiles. I don't even mind getting custom dungeon tiles made, but I don't want to spend more than $100 USD total. Just enough dungeon tiles for a relatively large dungeon. Even thick cardboard material is fine. And I would prefer not to make my own dungeon tiles if possible. Any suggestions? |

I don't think such a thing exists. You aren't going to be able to get anything made for $100 USD in that scale unless they are very basic. I don't mean to sound discouraging. Making them would be plausible based on the amount you want to spend…but that's just materials. As a fellow 54mm fantasy gamer, you hit the end of Google pretty quick looking for stuff in this scale. The work this guy does can be adapted to 54mm: YouTube link |

Very basic dungeon tiles are fine. Who makes them? Thanks. |

You're going to have a tough going filling such an order for that price. I know you don't want to make your own, but here's an idea maybe that would require minimal effort: Take a look at linoleum tiles at the hardware store. There may be ones with squares large enough to accommodate your needs. And they usually come in a nice stony texture. If you find some, then you could either simply mask off (with paint or marker) those squares you don't need, or you could get a pair of heavy duty cutters to cut out the rooms and corridors you need. I've also looked for large scale tiles in the past (for my 40-54mm stuff,) and have resigned to make my own when I'm ready to game with those figures again. |

^^ That would be my suggestion as well. |

It would be heavy as all out and not have 3D walls but this is what I would do: Check your local Habitat for Humanity (or equivalent) store. Most have ceramic tiles for next to nothing. Pick out something in the natural color range in the 2 inch size and already attached to the mesh stuff. My local store has 12" X 12" sheets of tiles for $.50 USD – $1.00 USD each. Separate them individually to build custom layouts (might take a while to set up each session) or cut the mesh in shapes as needed. If you could be coerced into a little DIY you could take it to the next level by gluing them down to MDF in certain formations (corridors, corners, rooms, etc.) on 1/8" plywood base using liquid nails. Maybe worth a try? If you come across something I would love to see a dungeon layout in 54mm – that would be huge! Do you have access to a basketball gym? :) Thanks, Night Owl |

Actually, while searching online, I just discovered Chessex Battlemats. Those should work well. Thanks for the responses everyone. |

You might also look out for oop Mage Knight Dungeon tiles and boards. These have a big width (I think 1 1/2") and might work. The Colonel |

I wish some company would come out with a range of 54mm Dungeon delvers, monsters, etc. A game in that scale could really look incredible. If you ever have some photos of your set-up, viper, please share them with the rest of us. |

What size would a standard floor tile be at 54mm? |

What size would a standard floor tile be at 54mm? What is a "standard" floor tile? Nearly all the floor tiles I've seen are 12" square. |
Claypole | 26 Feb 2015 4:11 a.m. PST |
Sorry I meant a tile in 54mm not a regular house sized one. ie. 28mm is 1 inch or 1.5inches etc. so what would 54mm be? |
Sgt Slag | 26 Feb 2015 4:04 p.m. PST |
Claypole, a standard dungeon tile, depicting a room 40 feet long, would be roughly 17" in length. So, a 30-foot x 40-foot room, in 54mm scale, would be 12-3/4" x 17"; a 10-foot wide, by 30-foot long corridor, would be 4-1/4" x 12-3/4". I hope that answers your question. Cheers! |

Thanks, sort of, I meant a single character sized tile, like a Hirst Arts floor tile block is 1" inch square so would 54mm be 2 or 3 inch square etc. (I was going to have a go at making some as I have 75kg of plaster to use). lol. |

what are using figure wise? |
MajorB | 27 Feb 2015 11:12 a.m. PST |
ie. 28mm is 1 inch or 1.5inches etc. so what would 54mm be? Well 28mm is just over 1in (1in = 25.4mm). 54mm is about 2 1/8 ins. Sorry I meant a tile in 54mm not a regular house sized one. But then you ask this … do you mean how big would a 12" tile be if scaled to 54mm figures? If so, then since 54mm is supposedly equivalent to ~6ft then a 12" tile would be about 9mm square in scale. |

[/URL] Think it's a bit confused. My meaning is this – above is a 28mm figure on a inch tile. How big would that tile be to take a 54mm figure? |

Claypole, Since no one answered your question, I'll take a couple guesses. (1) Based on your picture and the "typical" base size of a 54mm fig, 2" square looks about right to me. (2) Based on the fact that I seem to fit comfortably on 54"x54" (three 18" floor tiles x three 18" floor tiles), the base size comes out to 54" / 72" * 2-1/8" = 1-5/8" (square). So… I'd say somewhere between 1-5/8" and 2" square. |

There is a company called Marrow Production that is making dungeon crawler-type board game with 54mm scale miniatures. In my opinion, both the gameplay and the miniatures look awesome. The game is called "Journey: Wrath of Demons". It can be pre-ordered at Marrow Production's Facebook store. For more information about the game, here is the Kickstarter webpage: link I already have the game pre-ordered. |
