How are elites handled in chain of command for example light infantry (bersagliere, jakkari, rangers)Mountain infantry(alpini, geibers, chasseurs, etc) paratroopers ,general elites (legionaires) etc..

I am looking at army lists and just see compositions for reg inf and milicia

I don't have my book at hand, but I believe there's entries for American and German paratroopers.

Also German Panzergrenadiers, British Paras, and Soviet Tank Riders.

Are you just looking at the lists in the book? They cover elite troops or is it how they function?

Elites start with a higher force morale (they get an extra +2 to the roll)
Elites can deploy further from the Jump Off Point than regulars.
Elites are harder to hit in combat
Some Elites are aggressive and get a bonus in HTH combat.

…and (IMO) most importantly Elites get 6 orders dice rather than the standard 5.

This makes a major differance meaning not only they can potentially do more each phase but also are more likely to get a double 6 meaning you get the next phase activation as well.

Oh, and obviously they have a bigger pool of dice to lose once morale losses start biting so reducing the impact.

At least some elites do get 6 orders dice (typically parachute troops) and it's very nice indeed!

Elite Panzergrenadiers or russian tank riders only get 5 dice so there are ways of fine tuning 'levels' of elite.

Another tweak is to have 'superior junior leaders' who can be activated on 3 or 4 (rather than just a 3) representing increased low level initiative.

One way to look at it is 'elite' troops represents the unit's cohesion and fieldcraft.

The number of command dice represents their command and control, responsiveness and low level initiative.

Not all elites get six command dice, some can only get 5. There is lots of room for variety whne constructing a force list.

However, the chief presumptions are that they have better fieldcraft, so are harder to hit. However, when hit they die just as easily.

They can deploy further from their jump-off points, making them more flexible.

Some can get superior types of Leaders, but that will be on the lists.

We are currently rolling out two types of lists. Firstly are the free to download infantry lists for all nations which are on the TooFatLardies forum, we are currently working on the PTO. The we have the Pint Sized campaigns where you'll see much more specific lists for each campaign we play. We have two out so far with a third on the way for early next month.

Lots of fun discussion about rules, history, cheese, rugby and other things. Also plenty of talk about house rules, tweaks and test rules for specific units.
