Quite interesting…

"The well know images from the german newsreel sequence always appeared strange to me.

a battlefield enigma or a clue to a scoop ?

To start, it's strange to find Pz.Lehr tanks in a middle of a 21.Pz column at first sight, it could be the same road to rush to the front…

By order of march : …"

The answer is simple: Panzer-Lehr was ordered in May or thereabouts to hand over some PzIVs to 21. Panzer-Division, in order to bring them up to strength. It's discussed in Kortenhaus or Perrigault or Steinhart – one of those.

It does actually state that at the bottom of the page in the link.

Cool – I knew I wasn't imagining it… :) I can't open links from work.

So, no enigma after all. What a shame.

Sorry. :)

It was the delivery of those Pz IVs in May 1944 that allowed Panzer-Regiment 22 to dispose of the last of its French tanks shortly before D-Day…

… the gits…

Double shame. Think of the interesting wargame units we could have had if they hadn't swapped tanks.

Just think of the time I needn't have wasted painting nine German 35Ss & three H39s…

They're my favourite model tanks, but I never get to use 'em. :(
