So I hear tell simple green is an easy option for stripping plastic minis…

So I checked my local Bunnings – they have simple green:

Floor cleaner
Bathroom cleaner
Carpet cleaner
Outdoor cleaner
Wheelie bin cleaner
All purpose cleaner … etc etc

I think you get the idea – I assume the all purpose will do the trick? Does it matter which?

I think you want the all purpose cleaner.

The all purpose is what I've used in the past. Works fine with a little scrubbing from an old toothbrush.

I've used All Purpose. Just pour a little out, dilute it, and it works. And it is also great for cleaning sinks if you make a mess when brushing off the old paint.

All purpose works fine. Here's a link to a workbench article. TMP link

I don't bother with Simple green anymore. It's still ok, but ever since they dropped 2-butoxethanol from the formulation 2 years ago it doesn't seem quite as good.

I recommend Purple Power. It's always been (and continues to be) stronger, cheaper and faster-working than simple green and still has the 2-butoxethanol ingredient. You will have to use gloves though as it's a bit more toxic than Green. At this point, I've probably stripped a couple hundred figs in Green and twice that many in Purple. You can find it at auto parts shops and sometimes big-box and home improvement stores.

Whatever you use, don't dilute it. Buy the full strength concentrate and use it strait.

Or you could purchase an ultrasonic cleaner and use that. It eliminates a lot of the work for you. I end up stripping a lot of figures so I got one of the larger ones for $80 USD a few years ago and have beat the hell out if it and it still works. It also dissolves epoxy and crazy glue jointed pieces.
