I'm assuming that the "Bing search" image today is the same worldwide (national holidays excepted) so you'll be able to see the same image I see today--the Dutch star fortress of Fort Boutange. I liked it so much I've just saved it on Windows 8.1 as my desktop wallpaper! bing.com |

Thanks for sharing. I love the Dutch fortified towns/villages and have visited quite a few. There is a lot of variety, ranging from the tiny and quaint to the magnificent, such as Naarden (I suggest that you look it up if you don't know it). It is a pity that they are not better known outside the Netherlands. Regards |

It is very charming. Strangely idyllic for something of military origins. I think that photo has been circulating for a while, it looks very familiar. |

In our campaign of the War of the First Coalition, I was besieging Naarden. The umpire refused to accept my contention that the walls had holes big enough to drive a bus through, despite me having witnessed that in person. |
