Posted by Civil War gamer Rob Prince on the Johnny Reb Gaming Society's Facebook page…

"Just wanted to let everyone know that Stephen Huckaby, author of the ACW Ezine, was involved in a serious accident this evening. He is in the ICU at this time. From what I gathered, he is stable but is in critical condition. The driver of the vehicle lost control and went across the median. The driver was killed while Stephen suffered severe injuries. The 2 passengers in the back seat were also injured but I have not heard to what extent.

Thoughts and prayers go out the to everyone involved."

When I decided to shut down the JRGS's Charge! newsletter after the 10 years that Debi and I produced it, my old gaming friend from my days in NE Ohio Stephen picked up the mantle and began producing his own ezine, for which I have written several articles. Stephen and I were discussing some mutual projects recently. I can only hope he recovers fully.

Sad news.

nevinsrip23 Feb 2015 12:58 a.m. PST

That's horrible. I just did an article for his new E-zine
concerning the early American Wars. My prayers will be with him.

Our thoughts are with both him and his family, I've never met him and only had contact with him through e-mail but I do wish him all the best.

WarWizard23 Feb 2015 3:02 a.m. PST

Hope he is better soon!

CATenWolde23 Feb 2015 3:06 a.m. PST

My thoughts are with him. We had just started to correspond about various things, including the Late Roman period, and I was considering writing up my First Bull Run scenario for the e-zine.

Best wishes for a speedy recovery!

Good news! Stephen was down graded from ICU to a regular Trauma Recovery Unit and is much improved! It looks like he'll be able to post his own updates soon! Cory R.

excellent news, glad he is heading in the right direction. Here's wishing him all the best.

ACW Gamer27 Feb 2015 8:05 p.m. PST

I would like to thank everyone for their kind words and well wishes; they meant the world to me. I think occasionally, as with John Hill's passing, we are reminded that wargaming is as much about the friends and gamers as it is about the miniatures, rules or terrain.
I am back at home now after a week in the hospital. Being out of the hospital is unfortunately not the same as being healed.
I am working on getting stronger and I hope to get back to producing magazines for you all soon. Cold Wars is not currently possible due to my injuries but I hope to see you around the table in the near future.

cwbuff28 Feb 2015 5:17 a.m. PST

Glad you are home. Good healing just being home. Hope your health will be good by NASHCON.

GoodOldRebel28 Feb 2015 6:37 a.m. PST

that is excellent news! have a speedy recovery!

cw3hamilton28 Feb 2015 10:34 a.m. PST

Hi Stephen, 28 February 2015

Great to hear you are home! Home is the best place to be for a full recovery!!

I was looking forward to meeting you at Cold Wars but perhaps you will attend Historicon and I can meet you then.

Best wishes for a speedy recovery.

Charlie 1228 Feb 2015 2:18 p.m. PST

Great news! Here's hoping for a speedy and complete recovery. Take it slow and easy, rushing the recovery is the LAST thing you want to do (ask me how I know THAT…).

uglyfatbloke01 Mar 2015 5:00 a.m. PST

Good to hear you're doing well Stephen; hope you have a speedy recovery.

ACWBill01 Mar 2015 5:04 a.m. PST

Huzzah Stephen, so happy to hear you are back home and on the road to recovery. Sorry to miss seeing you at CW but perhaps at Nashcon instead,

Baranovich01 Mar 2015 8:26 a.m. PST

Wish him all the best in a speed recovery.

donlowry01 Mar 2015 10:36 a.m. PST

jambo101 Mar 2015 11:07 a.m. PST

KTravlos01 Mar 2015 12:05 p.m. PST

I give you the joy of your recovery, and wish its speedy and happy conclusion!

GGouveia11 Mar 2015 4:31 p.m. PST

Yes I just found out from Stephen, horrible news. My hearts go out to Stephen, his family and the family of his friend that perished in the crash. Sad to hear.
