Just seen a reference to this group – do they have a webpage or contact details. I found a Facebook page but little else, and it doesnt have any contact details on it. Keen to know club size, what is played and how one arranges a game there? Thanks! |

Can you message them on FB or Conway Hall themselves could put you in touch? |

Couldnt see a message facility, but I'm not hugely FB literate. A little bit more information would be helpful on who they are, what they play etc, to work out whether its worth making plans to drop by or not. I'm no longer a fan of turning up cold on the off chance, as often this isn't (for me at least) a terribly productive way of finding out about a club (eg you pick bad night, or no one is in, or no one there knows whether a system is played or not – all of which have happened to me in the past). Any advice about these guys gratefully received! |

I'll let you know if they get back to me. The 'message' button for me is on the RHS of their banner, after 'like' and 'follow' but my FB is customised with an app. Can't stand the original! |

You need to have a Facebook account in order to send a message. I am a member of the club. We meet every Monday (except Bank Holidays when Conway Hall is closed) in the Conway Hall club room from about 6.30 until 10.00. Most nights we have at least two figures games running alongside the boardgamers (1 table). We can take 3 tables and possibly more, but after that it gets a bit crowded. It's an informal set up – games are agreed between members in advance, so it reflects their varied tastes and figure collections. We have in the past two years run Maurice and Longstreet campaigns and I am keen on running DBA now that version 3 is available. Games played in the last six months: Maurice Longstreet Field of Glory Ancients Sword and Spear Black Powder Dux Bellorum Regimental Fire and Fury Bolt Action Might and Reason Nearest public transport is Holborn station. Hope this helps and that you will drop by. |

Sounds interesting – is it a "standard" two friends play each other competition style game set up, or do you favour more multi-player games? Regards Marc |

Thanks for the replies, much appreciated. I'll try and get an FB account up and running to send a message about possibly arranging a game soon. |

Marc, Games of Maurice and Longstreet have tended to be one-against-one, but we have had multi-player Longstreet games (3 on each side). If we want a multi-player game with our Maurice armies, we use Might and Reason. For other games the numbers vary depending on the rules used and how many are able to attend (discounting those supplying figures, required terrain etc.). As we have limited storage space on site, we have to set up and take down each evening, which limits the amount of playing time. |

Cheers CP – and yes, I can appreciate the hassle of "set up". I will be based at Angel soon, so will try and get along. The reason I asked is that I have seen clubs that are pretty much 1:1 and it just does not feel like a club. Each to their own, but not what I am looking for. Do you ever try to do longer games – say at the weekend? |

I do not work too far from the club so might pop by soon. Do you ever post a "what's on next week" on FB or similar? What boardgames get played generally – stuff like CCA or other board wargames? Thanks, Mike |

Marc, We don't have access to the Conway Hall at weekends, so games like that need to take place at the player's homes. Mike, I don't manage the Facebook page, but as yet we do not – all part of the informality of the club. The boardgamers don't have a set calendar, but agree who's turning up and what's being played by email exchanges. As I am ususally busy with a figure game I have not been recording what they have been playing recently. I suggest you either turn up or message the Facebook page asking for boardgame details. |

Okay – cheers. I will pop along in March. Mike |
