They're very nice – the same figs as the British/Hanovarian sets, just modified slightly for the uniforms. My only criticism is the hands/cuffs – on all their figs they need to be a bit smaller to be in scale.

I had to read that twice. I seriously read it as handcuffs the first time…….

and, no, I have neither read the book nor seen the film

ha Ha, looks to me like line infantry from a dozen different nations handcuffs or not. All in the same pose

Lord Hill22 Feb 2015 9:31 a.m. PST

deadhead I believe the Portuguese uniforms were in fifty shades of brown

More plastic guys out for a stroll. Meh. I wish someone would release more plastics like the original Victrix boxes with multi-pose figures.

Agree, the cuffs look a little large.

I have to disagree however, that they're just recycled figures: They have the typically Portuguese 'duckfoot' epaulettes, plus fringed versions for the flank companies, piping modelled up the front seam of the coat and distinctly Portuguese features on the two shako/barretina variants.

They look very good to me, though I do 15mm. If I did 28mm I'd definitely buy them – I've not seen better-looking Portuguese in 28mm.

I believe Lord Hill wasn't questioning the uniform detail, but noting that it has been applied over the same "dollies" used for the British and Hanoverians. So the basic poses are the same.

Hamfists are fast becoming a trademark it seems, they were first seen on the Prussian Landwehr…

I quite like the look of these & have had a positive experience with the Warlord Russians.

Until Alan Perry confirms he is doing a Peninsula range, looks like these may have to do.

The only thing that really lets Warlord down is their horrendous metal command that accompanies each set.

I don't know about other sets but the British Peninsula sets contains one of the nicest 28mm figs made by anyone – a yelling serjeant holding his pike out to shepherd his men into formation – it really is excellent. Here's a (not very good) pic

Some of the officers do have disproportionate hands and cuffs but they're hardly "horrendous" imho! :)

While I really like Victrix'x initial offerings, I expect that for many Napoleonic gamers a more contained and easier to assembled is probably better for game use.
