Hi everyone, quick, easy question hopefully.

I have painted some Prussian infantry in the past, but now can't quite recall what color is right for their trousers. In terms of Vallejo, of the colors I have (thus, I know one is right) the one I'm leaning towards is Dark Seagreen, which I'm pretty sure I used before. However, one I also am looking at that looks awfully similar is Dark Bluegrey *I think, not at my painting table right now.

Any suggestions?? Thanks!

Since color dyes were unstable during this time period, just about mid gray color would be OK.

I agree with ColCampbell, I use DeltaCeramcoat Storm Grey, then Highlight with 2 drops of Dolphin Grey and 1 of Storm Grey.

Is basalt grey a Vallejo?

HistoryPhD21 Feb 2015 5:51 p.m. PST

Crikey – I just use a mid grey. And don't worry about getting each unit the same as I like that level of subtle variation between units. YMMV

Marc, Marc – these are Prussians – there MUST have been a regulation on the colour of their pants!

If it helps Vallejo Basalt Grey is #70869.

very often on campaign they did wear trouser – mostly in white.

Dark Bluegray was what you used initially.

Not the color that is important but rather the look. Therefore depends on the scale for 15/18MM use a lighter shade grey for 25MM and upon other use a darker shade grey. Same goes for blue as well.
