Are war gamers people of consideration or merely animate bodies who move the enemy troops? Are they essentially interchangeable? When you say to them at the start of a war gaming session "Hi How are you doing!" Do you really care to hear? Ought you to be nice to them? Do you have any responsibility to them or they to you? |

When you say to them at the start of a war gaming session "Hi How are you doing!" Do you really care to hear? That's what my command stands are for. EDIT: Oh, I thought you were talking about the figures… |

I can't speak to anyone other than myself, but the wargamers I game with range from friendly acquaintances to close friends. All good folks and worthy of consideration and respect. We usually take some time to shoot the breeze before, during or after (or all 3) our games. They are one of the biggest reasons I actively wargame. Of course these are mostly folks from my club which meets every other week. I'm not finding my opponents randomly at the FLGS. |

Why? of course not we hate each other, usually get so serious as it ends up in fisticuffs and some times people have even been losing a piece of ear bitten up… Miniatures get smashed that's why 28mm pikemen with sharp wire weapons have been increasingly in demand. |

No Big Red, it's your point. |

I game with people I am already friends with, with gaming being one possible option when we get together. Sometimes its the reason for a get-together, sometimes its just what happens to take place. |

> Ought you to be nice to them? I try to be nice to everyone, it is hard considering how much I despise people… Gaming is my main only group hobby activity and if I don't like someone I will not be playing with them a second time. |

Yep, I only play with folks I enjoy gaming with, so I try to make sure I'm friendly! -Will |

Of course I'm nice to them. It's part of being an adult, which is why adults get to drink booze! |

Clearly I only spend large amounts of time with people I loath. After I grind them, silently, into the dust, I break their figures & scratch their cars. Like Big Red, I have no idea what the point of the OP is. |

Perhaps Otto is probing for hints as to whether to go to 'the next level' in his relationship with a particular gamer. |

Depends if the person across the table is a lady…..otherwise time to position the miniatures, load the dice, and find the refreshments. It may be a short action or grind them down brawl, with occasional spoken words…"how's the family" etc…. miniatures wise. |

I like the people I game with. If I didn't I would not invite them into my house. |

For me, if the opponents aren't enjoyable People, then neither is the game. A bore, is a bore, is a bore. Not that I don't allow boars in certain games, but that's different. If the people don't matter, then there is something out there called Solo gaming. There are a number of local hobbyists I can heartily recommend take it up as a continuous past time. Of course, maybe some of them feel that way about me. That's okay, I like my company. ; ) |
