I've just completed this set of houses and church in 15mm scale using 5mm foamboard. The roof tiles were made using a staggered roller cutter on watercolour paper and mounted on card. The windows and shutters are hand painted on watercolour paper, however a few of the windows are photos of original windows reduced in size on Microsoft PowerPoint and cut out. The walls were then coated in pva/polyfiller mix. Any feedback is more than welcome, especially with the windows; either hand painted or printed, which is more effective. Thanks for looking, Gary

Lovely work. I commend you for scratch building, although you've not helped in my eternal "are my 4Ground buildings just too colourful and cheery?" mental pondering. I like the hand painted windows the most although the slight reflective shine on the acetate is nice.

Very nice

What is a "staggered roller cutter" ?

You've done a great job. Both hand-painted and printed windows looked good.

Using the roller I cut vertical lines in watercolour paper, then make a horizontal cut across leaving the 'tiles' loose at the bottom but attached at the top giving a strip of tiles rather than individual ones. By the way the cutter is the mother in laws for her needlework hobby.

Good job, always like to see 15 mm scratch building. Why, some day, I might actually finish some of mine!

You cannot keep the Germans out of Plancenoit church. Boney discovered that. Instant recognition and really well done

Revisiting this thread and reminded that I need to find one of those rotary cutters. I wonder if Michael has one?

zoneofcontrol01 Oct 2016 6:08 a.m. PST

You can find rotary cutters and also scissors that cut patterns in fabrics and craft materials.

Nice work.

trenchfoot, I found the cutter at a local Michael's but can you identify the specific blade on the cutter? It would be appreciated. Thanks!

trenchfoot02 Oct 2016 10:28 a.m. PST

There are some for sale on eBay USA, 45mm perforating rotary cutter blade. Sorry I cannot provide a link. Make sure the blade matches the cutter, there are different makes. Hope this helps
