So I have been pondering a game based loosely on Monster Hunter video game series, it's basically going to be a heavily stripped d20 system game that gives us an excuse to use the massive monsters we always want to buy but never can come up with a way to use more than once (if we are lucky)
My current plan is to use a Tarot Deck to determine the monsters turn and various upgrades that can be made from the monster with a single paged sheet explaining what each card does as well as the monsters stats and such. My wife who is a huge tarot fan will help explain how the cards would work in a reading and is helping me convert them to the mechanics in a way that is logical to those who'd normally use such things. The deck is split into the Minor Arcana Numbers, Minor Arcana Face cards, and Major Arcana
Basically the first player each turn will flip an AI card that will show when the monster activates, who it attacks, and what kind of attack it uses. Different suits will designate different style attacks, with the higher number cards showing more powerful though slower attacks.
When the monster is attacked players can either attack it as normal or attack a certain area of the monster at a penalty, if a monster takes a critical amount of damage in an area, attacks of that type will be penalized. If the player doesn't choose, you'll flip a card from the AI deck to show where the damage goes.
Once a monster is slain the players can then harvest it in a number of ways, this will be done by using the Minor Arcana Face Cards and the Major Arcana. Face cards determine equipment and magic and such that can be harvested, Major Arcana are breakthroughs that allow you to utilize unique advantages in combat (basically feats).

This is all super rough right now, but is this something of interest to anyone?
