Hi. A few guys at my local club are doing FIW for Muskets & Tomahawks. Figured would be a nice side project to my main painting project of french Napoleonics. Looking at M&T army list I should be able to get 20-30 figures painted up reasonably quickly. A few Canadian militia, trappers and Woodland Indians should help break up the monotony of massed French Greatcoat Napoleonic Infantry. My question is does anyone have any painted examples of the Perry Miniatures AWI Continental Riflemen? I wanted to know how the Perry Riflemen sprue would compare to the 5 Hunting Shirt guys on the Wargames Factory Colonial Militi sprue? link Basiclly I am splitting a box of the WF Colonial Militia with a friend. With 2 of these sprues, that would give me 10 militia in Hunting Shirts. Looking at M&T French Army List, for Canadian Militia I need 6-8 for a unit. So I was thinking of picking up a few of the Perry Continental Riflemen to mix in with these WF Colonial Militia to complete two M&T Canadian Militia units. Especially given that they sell this sprue separately: link Note it's just the Riflemen that I am interested in. Not the rest of the Perry Continental Infantry which I have seen several pictures of – very nice but not what I wanted for the FIW units planning for M&T. Thanks James |

James, only problem is that the AWI dress has a very different look from FIW dress. While the riflemen are in hunting shirts, they don't look like frontiersmen. |

Have you considered the metal riflemen from Perry? I have some painted pictures of them on my blog CavCrazy, They are under the 2013 heading called my Continentals, and they look like frontiersmen. |

@nnascti- that's a shame – it's why I wanted to see photos of the painted Perry AWI Riflemen so could better compare them to WF Colonial Militia. @cavcrazy- have you got a link to your blog? Thanks James |

You might find the Conquest Miniatures range of Indians and Frontiersmen of interest for this project. |

@Der Alte Fritz – yes I do really like the look of Conquest Minis figures. Very nice figures indeed! Will definitely be adding some once I have finished my box of Colonial Militia. @cavcrazy – thanks for the link to your blog. Very nice painting. Did like the Perry metal riflemen. I presume they are armed with rifles? I think I can only take muskets in my French FIW list. But I doubt my opponent would mind. Cheers James |

They are US – have been stung for customs charges too many times. Chatting to my friend he does not need any militia urgently. So if I use the whole of the WF Colonial Militia box I will be able to get a dozen of both Canadian Militia and Local Militia for M&T French Army list, plus an Officer apeiece to get me started. Once I have finished assembling and painting these I can then look at picking up extra blisters of Perry and Conquest Miniatures for further options. Thanks for the advice guys James |
