Anyone remember who made the "vargr" and skimmer in this auction? auction |
Ewan Hoosami | 12 Feb 2015 11:30 p.m. PST |
Citadel miniatures aka Games Workshop circa early eighties, but I think another company now has the molds |

The Citadel Vargr are now with RAFM: link These are not those. |

Sorry missed the fact they were not 15mm but rather 25 – 28mm |

The figures in the auction aren't 25-28mm, either. Not sure why they would be so labeled if the owner has a ruler. |

Are they from Martian Metals? |

I think they are Martian metals. I am 90% sure the skimmer is |

Those are in fact from an Indy British line of 20mm scale sci fi figures from the later 1980s IIRC. The company folded back in the 90s IIRC, and also made a number of human troops as well. The skimmer is a 1/72 scale grav jeep from the Starguard! game line (although it appears to be missing its rear gunner's gun ring mount and weapon). It is still very much in production with Reviresco and available with either Colonial Militia or Imperial Terran Marine crew. I suspect that with a little bit of effort it would convert into a 15mm grav attack craft quite nicely. The not-Vargr are small enough for 15mm, or large enough to work as "20mm scale"/ 1/72 scale caninoid troops with equal utility. I have a force of these very well sculpted figures painted up in a, er, *distinctive* black and white striped fur pattern to take advantage of their distinctly bushy tails, but IMHO they'll paint up quite nicely whatever fur pattern one settles on. Hope this helps! Leland R. Erickson Metal Express metal-express.net |
