… on Flawed Data. "Air Force headquarters is getting desperate to dump the A-10. Congress has demonstrated strong support for keeping the A-10 and is skeptical of the Air Force's attempts to retire the platform. An Air Force general even accused any pilot who tells Congress why the A-10 supports troops so effectively in combat of committing treason. Now, to further muzzle any honest debate about providing adequate close air support for our troops, Air Force headquarters cherry-picked and then declassified selected statistics for USA Today—all to tar the A-10 with having killed more American troops and Afghan civilians than any other plane…" Full article here link Amicalement Armand |

It's not flawed data, it's intentionally distorted data. |

I'm a fan of the A-10 and hope it stays but have to say I haven't seen this as a real smear campaign by the USAF, they're being fairly open that they'd keep if they had the budget for it. Has nothing to do with anything but what they have to pay for with the money available, and the A-10 drops out. |

I'm a fan of the A-10 myself, but I wish the budgets for schools and bridges were as hotly debated as the budget for the A-10. |

What's the Air Force's reason for wanting to dump the A-10? |

What's the Air Force's reason for wanting to dump the A-10? Simply that in our era of tight budgets and 'sequestration' certain sacrifices must be made. And it sure wasn't going to be their golden goose, the F-35. |

There is no useful pork in an A-10, they need the money for shiny things. |

There is no useful pork in an A-10 And yet its nickname is WartHOG. O, the irony! |

If they made a replacement for the A10 there'd be some great pork to be had… |

Ah. Too bad. It has certainly been one of the more unique and cool designs in the USAF inventory. The A-10, F-15, F-16, and F-18 were members of what was probably the last great graduating class of U.S. fighters and tactical aircraft. |
