What color of paint would you use to pain Hobgoblin flesh. I have seen greenish and brownish? Any suggestion with GW, Reaper or other paint companies?

My old GW Hobgoblin flesh is yellow.

I use orange!

I went with a red brown. There's no reason you couldn't do a mix of skin tones across your warband.

The 'Traditional' D&D hobgoblins is a reddish-brown, sometimes with a blue nose(!), but orange, yellow or other colors work just as well.

I painting my Kobolds a reddish brown. I would paint Hobgoblins more towards the orange spectrum.

I go with Orange. By using Orange, I can make Hobgoblins just with paint: I have two boxes of plastic 'Human' knight figures, from BattleMasters board games, re-purposed as Hobgoblins. According to 1st/2nd Ed. AD&D rules, they are highly militarized, highly organized, and well equipped; they also take good care of their equipment.

The plastic knight figures came in two bands: one silver plastic, one bronze plastic. The bronze plastic figures are being painted up as having Bronze Plate Mail armor (paint everything not Bronze, leave the bronze stuff unpainted), then apply The Dip, and matte clear coat, flock the base, and done. At arm's length, the Orange skin (and a dash of blue on the noses) really sets them off as being Hobgoblins, not Humans. In Gygax's description, he makes note of the fact that Hobgoblins, from a distance, are often mistaken for Human troops -- it is only when the get close, that other races see them for what they are… The Bronze Plate Mail also sets them apart from the silver-metal'ed Humans, on the tabletop. Cheers!

I did the exact opposite. My Hobgobs are reddish brown, and my kobolds are a rusty orange color!

I also usually do an orange-brown colour.

I think GW counts them as greenskins, so they's green in my book.

I've always thought of Hobgoblins as orange skinned Samurai half orc/ human mix. True that GW made all gobbos green, but I'm not sure they started that way even with them.

Hobgoblins always had an "eastern" flair to their armor/weapons in my memory as well, and I had always pictured them dusky-orange-to-reddish-brown skin tone.

Everyone knows there are several different races of Hobgoblins. They are differentiated by their skin tone. So there are some reddish brown, some rusty orange and some green!

Cross breeding also creates a variety of hues within that spectrum …
