I´ve finished the peasants armed with bamboo spears base. In the end I decided to risk with a rice paddy base… it was made using water effect and the plants were made of paper: link

Cheers!

That looks brilliant. Reminds me of a "scene" in the Lone Wolf and Cub comics where two big yakuza warbands are facing off against each other in a wetland.

The name of the post sounds like a haiku

"Standing in a field
Holding aloft their ready spears
Peasants await fate"

Outstanding work

Yes – very nice. My figures are based singly for skirmish but I wonder if …..

You are only not 100% happy because you set a high standard !

I looked at some photos of rice paddies. I think you are right about the rice leaves being too thick. How did you cut the paper ? It might have worked better with smaller, finer rice plants that show the regular pattern more clearly

The other thing is that the base doesn't have a single focal point – perhaps a squad leader with bright clothing ?

Please do not take these comments as a criticism – your work is outstanding and inspirational as always

John

Thank you all for your comments!

@John: I just cut the paper with scissors, but I should had done it thinner…
You are also right about the focal point. But I dismissed the idea of using a standard or a "ronin" figure as leader because I just want to look them as a ragged mass. But painting one of them with different colours would have been a nice idea… ;-)
