Recently I came into possession of a book about the battle for the Kwajalein atoll written by SLA Marshall. It is a a first hardback printing, I bought it for fun reading. When I opened later that that night to begin reading I discovered two sentiments in the front. Both to General Lucian Truscott from SLA Marshall. The first sentiment had a big blob of ink in the middle. The second was written on a nice piece of paper and glue tagged at the top and placed over the first. It's a bit surreal to read a book that had been in the possession of both men. Also, I like reading about obscure military operations. Good maps so far. |

Treat that thing with kid gloves and get it appraised! If you're like me the "collectable value" of such things is minor compared to the information within but still get a value on it. It may send your kids to college or help take care of you in your old age. |

You might check with the SLA Marshall Collection at the Library of the University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP). I doubt the same curator is still there from the 1990's but the collection is quite impressive. They might be able to give you a sense of your volume's worth. Worth checking out. |
